And, cleanliness. Rayon tends to gunk less...
Not for my juices it doesn't. I know I can keep on using the same Rayon wick far far longer than I do. I tend to rewick and dry burn only because the wick looks so disgusting to me. I realize as long as flavor is fine, draw is unaffected, vapor production stable.... no real reason to rewick and dry burn. Except when you're a card-carrying member of the OCD club as I am

I've taken black as night rayon, rinsed it on the atty, and it's gone back to white. Cotton gets dark and stays there...

I currently have a wick in my Prometey:wub: that's 2/3 Rayon and 1/3 JOC.
(the piece of Rayon I'd cut had slid thru coil way too easily. Oops. Then I noticed a strip of JOC in another little ziploc right next to me which looked the perfect size to add to that rayon and thought: Why Not?)

That "combo wick" has been vaping great for several days now.
That's like having Maker's with flat ginger ale....

One more note in the Rayon vs Japanese Organic Cotton discussion at hand...

For JOC, one of the best deals is for a pretty large pkg of the MUJI brand you can find dirt cheap, on Amazon.

I personally like to use Rayon sometimes, JOC other times. Really depends on my mood more than anything else. (Or what's handiest atm without me needing to go to the other side of the house to replenish one or the other from where I keep my supplies).

Tastebuds can also play a part.... You ever eat or drink the exact same thing and have it taste different at different times somehow? Or maybe another analogy could be how it's good to change shampoo brands or formulas time to time, alternate them (regarding hair, I've never shampooed any vape stuff, not even a wick :D)

Then there's boredom... and just wanting to shake things up a bit. Rayon to JOC... JOC to Rayon... Blending the two together. Whatever.

We can all read and research until the cows come flying home after sprouting wings, but nothing is a substitute for trying something yourself. Because everyone is different. And when something is affordable enough to be able to try and test with, you owe it to yourself to do so :2c:

What about coil gunk? Doesn't play a part, or isn't a factor?

I think yes. I never rewick because my wick is toast it is always coil gunk that prompts me to dry burn and rewick. YMMV. I suppose I DoIt every week or two, rewick that is. :D

Alas, Muji cotton is not organic--if that matters to you. It's unbleached, that's all. But it's grown with pesticides and is chemically treated.

From the horse's mouth.

In what way did the Achilles not work for you? To me it's the quintessential tootle puffer atty, along with cartos/cartotanks. That tight draw is excellent! And there's so little air to dilute the flavor!

Andria
How do I find one of these and will they work on istick ?

Hi, I tried to understand most of the building and coils etc but it's all a bit overwhelming. I'm looking for a small tank for my istick (20w) that has a nice tighter draw and that I do not have to build lol... Am I in the wrong place?

Dwayne,

Not the wrong place at all, though this thread does a lot of rebuilding, there are also plenty of folks who use tanks with premade coils. I take it that your istick 20w is the mini and not the full size? For the mini I would recommend the GS air 16mm tank, or maybe an Aspire Nautilus mini. Both look pretty good on the little one. The Nautilus mini can go pretty tight, and the newer BVC coils are pretty good.

If you have the original istick 20w (it's considerably taller), I would recommend the Anyvape Cerotank with the Aspire BVC coils (not the nautilus or triton mini coils, the other ones). It is quite a performer, and also has a tight draw. I hear from that the new Cubis tank with the MTL coils has a good tight draw (I just don't have that tank), but it is a 22mm tank and would only look good on the original istick instead of the mini because the mini is only 18mm.

You can use the ego adapter and go to an aerotank/genitank mini if you like the kanger coils, that also works, or the ego one mini from Joytech is also 18mm. I'm not a fan of the ego one but lots of people here are.

Good luck on your search.

Sure glad I still use silica wicks. Haven't had to replace one yet this year. ;)
Silica is so slippery to work with. I should try it again now that I have a better grip on rewicking.

Bwahahahaha Didn't mean to make a funny but since I did, I cracked myself up!

I currently have a wick in my Achilles:wub: that's 2/3 Rayon and 1/3 Rayon. ;)

But I draped a few strands of rayon on top of the coil, she's chuckin'
The idea is that this may well reduce gunking on the top on the coil. :w00t:

2 day report.
The rayon above the coil is a bit gunky but the coil top is clean. :w00t:

I've move the top piece of rayon and will continue, it looks promising at this time.
