Yep. I don't know anything about the company at all, but I do know that many companies contract with outside manufacturing houses. I've worked for electronic device companies for quite some time. You spec something to the factory and sometimes they get a run of components where the materials don't live up to the spec sheet. Tolerances are out of line and you get a high failure rate. I've seen it happen in my own companies where the design didn't even change. The manufacturing house just got a bad run of parts or tried to lower unit costs with a cheaper version that was supposed to have the same specs. You're the name that faces the company, though. If they don't have the manpower to do a large run of QA, they might not catch it.
I’ve worked in the Manufacturing sector. And I’m not saying that Corners aren’t sometimes cut for Profits with Disastrous Results.
But Many times it is a Less Maligned Cause like an Grunt Employee using the Wrong Solvent to Clean Machinery or a Rail Car with a Leaky Roof causing a Product to get Wet.
And believe it or not, Most Major Screw-Ups are done on the Paperwork Side. Someone Fat Fingers a 6 Instead of a 3 on a P.O. and 20,000 pounds of Carto Filer #468526 is purchased instead of Filer #468523.
The biggest Problem is the Pipeline Time (PLT) from Manufacturing to Retail Sale is many times Quite Long. The Cartos you are Using Right Now might have been made 3 Months Ago.
So when a Systemic Problem like with the Boge Cartos is Discovered, there can be Hundreds of Thousands of Cartos in Retailers Inventories. I’m not trying to shift All of the Blame onto Retailers. But I know that Many Retailers had Inventory that they knew had Problems and sold them anyway.
QC will catch Statistically High Quality Problems in a Product like this at the OEM level. But what if the OEM’s QC Falls Down? Some may ask if Retailers are doing Enough, or even Any, QC on the Products they Sell or if they just Chuck them in a Box and send it to your Mail Box?
Shouldn't the Retailer be Involed in the QC Process? And if they are Not, Shouldn't they Shoulder some of the Blame when they sell Cartos which have Bat Piss in them?
