I can't take credit for this one at all, Todd (Todd EcigReviews) actually made a video showing the basics for this method and it has literally changed the way I vape. He's a stellar reviewer, check him out here:

Anywho, I did some research - and from what I can tell a guy a guy named Petar. K came up with this trick, though he uses an unoxidized wick and doesn't rearrange the coils. I like to oxidize mine still, and space them out a bit more. In any case, I've done my due diligence to not take credit for somebody else's work. Believe me though, this is the most consistent method I have tried. Works every single time and allows the wick to breath while maintaining constant contact with the coil. Brilliant!

If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I will do my best to answer them or make some follow-up videos Lots more genesis stuff to come!

Thanks for watching and subscribing, and as always. vape Groovily

I've been building mine this way, after trying several methods. I haven't had a bad coil yet, with this method.

She's a beaute, eh?

I've had just the opposite experience, I find it easier to wrap a coil to fit the wick than vice versa. But that's what's great about this hobby, is that everyone can do it their own way.

I definitely see what you mean, but so long as your bit is the same diameter as the hole, and you can make a wick that hugs the walls of the hole, you're golden.

Like you said though, whatever works best :D

Yep, trickiest part of the procedure is making the wick the same size as the drill bit. I actually use a piece of 3/32" SS tig welding wire, instead of a drill bit.

I'm in a weird spot... I like higher resistance coil but the surface area you get out of low gauge wire so I end up with a pretty large number of wraps. I've got some 28awg kanthal otw and I'm planning on making a tool for wrapping coils using some tiny thread stock that's been turned down just a little to leave tiny groves instead of threads and use that as a guide for the wires, maybe dremel a notch on two sides where my tails will go once I figure out exactly how many coils I need.

I've had 0 luck with my DUD so far, gonna try this with a drill bit tonight when I get back from practice and see how it goes. I'll post my support if it works or horrible violent curses against you and all the things you love if it fails.

You've been warned!

If you like higher resistance, you might consider getting some finer gauge wire; like 32 or 34ga kanthal, or even nichrome. Nichrome will give you a little more resistance than kanthal.

Haha, spectacular. I've had a headache all day, I'm not sure how that bodes to your progress. Best of luck to you, I think you'll do great. 30 AWG works great as well

After watching this I was determined to try it. Didn't have anything around the house so I went to home depot. After looking through the drill bit section I was disappointed but had other things in mind. What I ended up getting was a nail that wasn't exactly a TIGHT fit but the room that was left was kind of arguable that the nail was too small. While I was at home depot I also picked up an o-ring for the first nut to sit on, because I lost mine. Got home and put everything together. Supreme bliss is what I ended up having. I'm scared about the o-ring not living up to the heat so time will tell with it, but my trip to home depot was extremely well spent. Thanks!

I've got some 28 and some 32 otw to test. I've been playing with 36awg NiChrome but it's got this horrible taste. I'm hoping more wraps and better heat distribution will be the trick. I'll be posting a large evaluation once I get the wire and test it.

Fantastic! I can't wait to read it. 36 has always been a bit thin for me, the 28 is Bliss, so long as you can handle the ridiculously low resistance.

Awwww Yeah! Way to go. I didn't even think of the fact that a nail or other "tool" would work just as well or even better. The drill bit has all that spiralled milling but a nail or pin would be nice and smooth. In any case, I'm glad this worked for you. I just got in some 500 mesh, made a new wick, used the trick and the clouds are thick!

So I've made a few coils, some better than others but they always end up having an off taste or what not due to very small hot spots. I am sort of a perfectionist so I never vape something that doesn't taste awesome to me.

I decided to revisit this method with a couple of small changes.

1) I wrap the coil around the drill bit using a 3/4 wrap which amounted to about 1.5 ohms(Previously I was using a 4/5 wrap)
2) I install the coil and tighten it up and space the wraps evenly.
3) I do a couple of fires with the coil just to see it light up and break it in a tad.
4) I install the wick very carefully through the coil.
5) Once the wick is in secure, I loosen the negative post and tighten the coil JUST a tad. (I say just a tad because you really don't want to dig into the wick. You want to make sure it's right on the wick though.
6) Then I loosen the positive post a bit and tighten the coil there the same way.

Basically just once you install the wick like in the video, undo the positive/negative post and pull it in just a bit. I still had to fiddle with the coils a tad to get it perfect but that's because I'm very picky.
