I haven't done the baking soda method, mainly because its abrasive and don't want to remove any of the plating. I just used the DeoxIT kit above and seems to work great. I'm curious how long the Gold will protect from oxidation, hoping to go extended periods between cleanings. I sprayed into the caps and used Q-tips on everything except the female
threads, I sprayed them out. I applied the Gold with Q-tip to all parts including the females. It leaves a thin oily layer on everything but no odor or thick gunk like Noalox does. I never could stand the black gummy threads or turpintine smelling carrier of Noalox. If this stuff holds up it will be a winner. I used it on the Poldiac and Reo Mini and they both seem to be hitting harder than ever. I did a lot of reading on this stuff and the high end audiophiles really praise it, that was good enough for me to give it a try. If you just search DeoxIT on google you can find different applicators and better prices than RatShack.
