Yeah, I think there are a few saying that. Very nice s/u you have there. What is the topper on there, matches very well.

Using the Gem rta.

When I got that mod had a chance to grab the Aname when it was in stock. But I passed on it. Thinking I could've just got more sleeves. But they are out of those also in 18650.

You could always try a WTB in the classies to get another Poldi.
Now I gotta go look that Gem RTA up. :)

A very complex deck system. It's an usual style when assembling. But easy to set up. One base is for dry firing and the other to go into hybrid or 510 connection. Nice MTL RTA.

I went a little crazy when they went on sale. I just couldn't pass them up especially since early on during the sale they came with all three battery tubes. I believe later on during the sale it was for just single battery sizes. I bought the four models i wanted and then after adding up the price of all the spare parts i wanted, i found it a better deal to just buy four back ups. So yeah, i have 8 Poldis now and don't regret it at all. Four have only been opened for inspection and put away. If i ever decide to part with them i'll give you guys a heads up first.

So... how does that dirt get into my switch? I mean, it's way inside there, the pin and contacts on each end of the switch, and with the Poldi I use the most it will start hitting weak, until I take the switch apart and clean each part with alcohol and put it back together, and then it hits good and strong again, but how on earth do the contacts get dirty in there? How does stuff even get in there? I can't see the stuff, and the parts don't look dirty, but after I clean them all and put it back together there's a big difference.

One thing I have noticed is that on the contact pins sometimes I can just barely see a very thin black ring on the pin going around it. I'm assuming that's from contact and some sort of transference from the contacts in the ends of the switch under voltage, but I don't really know. Anyone?

I use a strong solution of baking soda and water, works great. I use a toothbrush, or roll the pieces around in my fingers while submerged in the baking soda and water solution for a scrubbing action. As far as the dirt getting in the switch, yeah, it gets in there. It's amazing how dirt is able to work it's way in to small areas.
I don't have to clean my Poldis very often, but they are always in the house, they just continue to hit for quite a while.

That black discoloration is oxidation from the air. Oxidation begins again from the moment you cease polishing.
Poldiac owner's manual recommends baking soda for the contacts. Rice pins and screws in full button body assembly.

But, if it's oxidation, how come it's only in one thin little ring instead of the entire pin? And that ring seems to be right where it makes contact with the end screws.

The whole pin does oxidise. It's removable from the plastic button part (the trigger). You'll notice a black buildup on the plastic if your housing is beige. But oxidation buildup is more where the business ends of the rice pin are exposed, and completing the electrical circuit

Okay, I guess that makes sense, although I do notice it's only on one end of the pin, and that end is always the one that makes contact with the bottom of the switch, and it's always a distinct and very thin black ring. I've been quite curious about this. It seems to me it has to do with current at the point of contact. I take the pins out of the button housing and clean them with alcohol, but maybe the baking soda is a better way. Can I use Clabber Girl, or must it be Arm & Hammer?

About that black ring on the contact pin, I took my Atmizoo Roller apart, and found the very same thing on the contact pin in that. You can just see it here.

It's really hard to get it off there and this is the very same thing I see in my Poldiac contact pins. This has to be from current on the surface of that pin, don't you think? There is also a black ring on the other end, although it's fainter.

Maybe, or the lines are from it being ensheathed in that plastic piece. Or it could come from firing the mod. A percussive effect.

Someone mentioned getting contacts re-rhodium plated.
Maybe someday ill do this. I would stick w the baking soda for the contacts. I think i messed up mine because i used Wright's Silver Cream. I think for the other pices of the mod, you can be a bit more aggressive, and not harm it

Isn't Clabber Girl baking powder? It prolly wouldn't hurt it. Baking soda is like a few cents at the dollar store.

It took me, seriously--half a day to dismantle and clean those mods. Not the assembly--just scrubbing them down. My Poldiacs still work, tho.

Ummmm... baking powder, baking soda, I'm not sure, I don't do much baking, but Clabber Girl is all I have right now so I've been using that. I'll have to get some baking soda then. I cleaned five mods inside out today, the 4 Poldiacs and the Roller and they are all hitting good now. I have a bunch of spare contact pins for the Poldiacs, but I'm also seeing slight discoloration on the end contact points in the switch, those that screw into the ends of the button body, I'm not sure what they are called, but you know what I mean. I need to find something that will get that stuff, whatever it is, off there and off the pins. Alcohol isn't doing a very good job, perhaps 111 trichloroethane.

I find it interesting that the black lines on the pins in the switches go all the way around the pins, and I very much doubt the pins are spinning in there. I'm pretty sure it's the effect of the current being applied to them.

I wouldn't worry about the black lines on the pins. I don't think they affect anything.
Just use baking soda. The rhodium is fragile. For that matter so is silver plate, which is the layer underneath the rhodium. I know, because my brass now is starting to peek thru in spots, because i got too overzealous w cleaning. Fat Daddy Vapes carries rice pins. Because other mods, like your Roller, and the Nemy use them.
I would maybe not use chloroform to clean your contacts. Fumes are toxic.

Well chloroform isn't want I meant, and it's that green stuff in plants that wouldn't clean anything, but trichloroethane might indeed have toxic fumes. I'm just thinking of what might be a better parts cleaner than alcohol, but I'll get some baking soda and try that.

Fat Daddy Vapes has pins for the Roller? I'll have to check into that.
