well $11.00 shipped for 14ml I thought was a great deal for a great juice,

Anyways I did order some Zues RY4 last week and still have not got it, the milkshake RY4 they had was really good to for some reason so thought i would try the Zues RY4 out I know you did not rank it high but they said its a different version V2 so i will give my thoughts unless you did go over V2.

It's just business. Lower your price.

I wasn't busting your chops. I haven't seen the ad, but in a small market like the Classies, if you're getting no nibbles, it means the fish don't like the bait (price). Just Econ 101.

Seems that Zeus has four different RY4s now---RY4, Double RY4, Creamy RY4, and Zeus RY4 (Version 2). I've vaped and reviewed only Creamy and Zeus Version 1, both of which are on The Big List. And yes, I don't think much of Zeus RY4 V1, but that's just me. If you get any of the three I haven't tried and review them, they'll go right on The Big List. If you want them included in the Category Groups, you'll have to tell me which categories apply.

Here are the vendor descriptions from the various product pages on the web site:

RY4: This eliquid is a creamy, smooth woodsy tabacco blend with more of a nutty flavor than our RY4 Double ejuice. It has a good throat hit and overall mild flavor!

RY4 Double: This eliquid has a woodsy blend of creamy, smooth tabacco flavors with a slight nutty vanilla flavor and a light carmel undertone. Good throat hit and an overall mild flavor!

Creamy RY4: We love this creamy take on the RY4. Mild, sweet caramel cream tobacco eliquid that is sure to please the taste buds.

Zeus RY4: This is revision #2 of Zeus' RY4 recipe. We continually strive to improve and we felt the first recipe could use some tewaking. We blend the perfect amount of tobacco, caramel, and some sweeter flavors to bring this vape to the pinnacle of greatness. It's complex, a little sweet, and a very smooth RY4 blend. Undertones of toffee are marshmallow are evident but not overpowering. A definite must try.

Nice descriptions.

Just received some indigo Ry and there 555 tobacco. All I can say is that I am taken aback by the subtle nuances and bombardment of flavors that caress the pallet on the inhale. The sensation only deepens on the exhale. I am not even going to try and describe what these flavors are like as I can honestly say that both these juices deserve to be experienced!

Very satisfied with Indigo vapor. WILL BE ORDERING MORE

For an on-topic post, I have a bottle of Virginia Flake RY4 from MOV. Received my first order from MOV a couple days ago, the RY4 with a few of their other NETs. The two I've tried so far, Sunday Morning and Pendragon, both have me enamoured. Not only are they flavors I enjoy, the levels of depth and balance are very impressive and points to well thought out, complex juices made by someone skilled at the art. Sunday Morning pulls a rare feat of dark, rich tobacco in a fairly light and clean amber liquid.

These two give me high expectations for the RY4, and I'll be pretty disappointed if they don't display the same level of balance and quality. I just checked out Bill's original review, and it looks promising for me. I have opened it and the scent was a pretty noticable caramel which smelled very good. Probably start vaping it tomorrow.

Jerms, Pendragon and Sunday Morning are both very good NET's and I will be surprised if Full VA Flake does not give you a similar satisfaction. All three of these get daily vaping time from me! Let us know how the VA Flake strikes you. It is one of my faves.

This is funny, I'm vaping it now and I just posted in the NT thread my first impressions. I had to stop halfway through and retract what I was saying. The first few vapes was all caramel popcorn with no tobacco which I was writing about, then BAM, while typing and vaping the tobacco flavor exploded in my mouth lmao. Weirdest thing I've experienced in a while, more time is needed with this, which I can gladly do now that the profile is suddenly to my liking.

Jerms,

What a relief! I was just about to leave a response post on the Natural Tobaccos thread, one of those "Amazing how one person can perceive a juice as so completely different from another person's perception."

Guess I don't have to now. LOL.

As I posted recently, I regard MOV Full Virginia Flake RY4 as the most accessible of the new crop of NET-based RY4s for people accustomed to a traditional RY4 flavor profile. All of those four juices (Ahlusion Gold Rising, MOV FVF RY4, QuickNic ouR whY qu4tro, and MyVapeJuice Rogue RY4) have their strong points of distinction, but MOV is the most in the fold of RY4, so to speak.

I definately made a rookie mistake jumping the gun on it. Usually I vape a new juice for at least a few hours before posting first impressions. I was going to point out that I would let it steep before revisiting it but suddenly realized something else was going on, and my first few puffs were way off. One possiblility is that though I shaked the bottle, the juice in the glass dripper wasn't properly mixed. The last few drips is really hitting the spot.

There's some notes I'm getting from from the tobacco in the aftertaste that reminds me of Pendragon, which I really like. I don't think there's any Virginia in the Pendragon like the RY4, so it's probably a result of their extraction process. I'll vape this several hours and make an update for a proper "first impressions" in the NT thread, which of course I should have done in the first place. Live and learn, make mistakes and re-learn lol.

After the sometimes surprising results my Comparison Vape-Off of 40 different RY4s two days ago---post #3739---I felt that I needed to revise a significant number of grades on The Really Big RY4 Report Card. I’ve now done that, moving up some RY4s to higher grades, while demoting others to lower grades.

I also took three of the four new NET-based RY4s (Ahlusion Gold Rising, MyVapeJuice Rogue RY4, and QuickNic ouR whY qu4tro), along with one other older NET RY4 (GoodEJuice GJ4), and docked them by a full grade each, moving them down from the A/A- group into the B/B+ group. While I remain immensely impressed by the quality and creativity of all these juices, the only NET-based RY4 that I feel is easily accessible for vapers accustomed to a more traditional RY4 flavor profile is MOV Full Virginia Flake RY4. So, that one stays in the A- group. While brilliant, the others will have to get comfortable in the B/B+ group, because their potent natural tobaccos stretch the boundaries of RY4 further than many vapers looking for an RY4 will be comfortable with.

Comparison-vaping RY4s head-to-head has become critical to me as a person who poses as an expert judge of RY4s. It’s one thing to vape an RY4 by itself, and a long vaping session with a single RY4 is a meaningful way to get comfortable with the juice and appreciate its nuances and all the qualities that make it what it is. On the other hand, nothing reveals a particular RY4’s strong and weak points, strengths and failings, more quickly or obviously than comparison-vaping against other RY4s. Most RY4 lovers never even have the chance to experience the incredibly broad spectrum of RY4 flavors all at once.

If you have 10 or more RY4s in your stash, then you can do this kind of testing. Trust me---it's a revelation. I’m in the unique position of having almost 150 RY4s all told (if we include DIY RY4s), so I’ve made comparison-vaping the primary test in my assessment arsenal. It's the vaping equivalent of Consumer Reports.

-----

The Really Big RY4 Report Card

The grades given for these RY4s are my opinion only. They are also current judgments and may differ from grades I gave in the past. So please understand that if you base a buying decision solely on this list, you might end up getting an RY4 that I like rather than one you’ll like, since my taste preferences and palate sensitivity probably won't match yours perfectly---in some cases, not even remotely.

Within each grade, the RY4s are listed in alphabetical order. This kind of judging is ridiculous enough without splitting hairs or nit-picking between RY4s within the same grade.

For vendor links and original review post numbers, as well as Category Groups, please refer to the most recent update of The Big RY4 List---posts #3619 and #3620.

Did I mention that these grades are my opinion only? LOL.

Thanks again for all the hard work you put into this Bill. Certainly has been a big tool for me in understanding and appreciating RY4. The few times I've made reference or take into consideration what makes an RY4 successful, I often credit you or this thread. If you ever spot an inaccuracy or mis-understanding of mine PLEASE correct me. I value accuracy of statement above being shown incorrect.

I'll have my first official grade A RY4s today. My current two favorite artificial RY4s out of only a handful I've tried are Tribecca and MVJ Our RY4, both decently graded by you. I'm finding NET RY4s to be difficult to judge, as what makes a good NET to me is often different than what makes a successful RY4.

Jerms,

I read all your recent posts about MOV Full Virginia Flake RY4 on the Natural Tobaccos thread. I agreed especially with your comments about the difficulties of reconciling MOV's other NET blends---Pendragon, Sunday Morning, and Southern Gentleman---to FVF RY4. Comparing an NET (whether "straight" or aromatic) to an NET-based RY4 is much more difficult than one might assume. The added caramel and vanilla flavorings that are essential to making an RY4 apparently alter the flavor profile of an NET in ways that change its character when vaped.

I don't find that difficulty in comparing straight NETs to NET aromatics/blends such as Ahlusion Vurley/Vecchio (NET + vanilla) or Smooth Criminal (NET + caramel), but once a juice-maker decides to head off into to RY4 Land, something fundamental apparently changes. Maybe it's in the ratios of flavorings or the interaction of the flavors together, but the only sensible comparisons I've been able to make with NET-based RY4s are with other NET-based RY4s.

If I were focused mainly on the tobacco, I wouldn't look to an NET-based RY4 to satisfy that desire. Apples and oranges somehow, and juices such as mov Sunday Morning, ahl Blue Grass Burley, or mvj My Hero Vanilla are better choices than any RY4. That said, however, if someone wants a stronger, more distinctive tobacco-type RY4, the NET-based RY4s become viable. And finally, if a vaper wants a more traditional profile in a superlative custom RY4, MOV Full Virginia Flake would be highly recommended. It's a wonderful juice that takes RY4 into new realms of yumminess.

I agree with the ratio of flavors being an issue for comparing a NET to a NET RY4, and I'm thinking it's the main issue. For me a NET being sold as a tobacco containing notes of vanilla and caramel, and a NET sold as an RY4, have different requirements to be successful as a juice that matches it's description, though they contain the same flavors. I was hoping for the former from FVF, like the profile PenD had, with the other flavors playing as shapers to the tobacco. Of course since FVF is a successful RY4 and not sold as "tobacco with hints of", my expectations were unfair.

I plan on keeping that in mind when vaping it. When I'm in the mood for a tobacco PenD and SunMorn will fit the bill, but the FVF will be suited when in the mood for an RY4 or even a NET that has other flavors equal in strength to the tobacco.

It really shows the thought and skill shown by the creaters of MOV's crop of NETs. I have a lot of respect for what I've had so far, in the cases of PenD and SunMorn almost an awe. They have my attention, and look forward to more releases that show flavors being flavor shapers to the tobacco.

I received my bottles of Janty Classic and DK. On the DK RY4 one the ingredients include vanillin tincture (15%) and peach aldehyde (1%), the classic didn't include PA but had some other long chemical ingredients. The vanillin I understand, but what's with the PA? I did a google search to try to figure out what it is, most of the results I can't make any sense of, but figured out it's made in China and is used for flavoring and fragrance in perfume. There was dozens of opposing descriptions of it including peach of course and other fruits. Anyone know what this is doing in an RY4 and has this been discussed?

IF we can believe what we've learned from Ludo, namely that the recipe used today for Janty RY4 DK-Series is exactly the same as the recipe for the juice that Ludo and the unnamed Dekang flavor chemist came up with on that day in 2007 in the Dekang production facility in China when RY4 was initially created and named, THEN the answer to your question---"What's peach aldehyde doing in an RY4?"---is that PA is one of the original ingredients of RY4.

At the strength listed (1%), one wild guess as to why might be that peach aldehyde doesn't add any discernible fruit flavor, but instead slightly alters the taste profile of whatever multiple flavorings make up the caramel element of the original RY4. Relatively few RY4s---especially those made by the larger manufacturers---use off-the-shelf single caramel and vanilla flavorings. Almost all of them use multiple flavoring components to come up with 'composite' caramel and 'composite' vanilla. Any number of reasons could account for this approach. One possibility is to make the three core flavors harmonize better or blend more effectively.

Someone who assumes that any fool can add caramel and vanilla to a tobacco flavor base and come up with a good RY4 is badly misinformed. As evidence to support this assertion, I can cite all of us on this thread (at least four or five of us that I know of, including myself) who have tried that very approach, often in numerous DIY experiments using different combinations and ratios of various flavoring manufacturers' caramel, vanilla, and tobacco concentrates, and have experienced without exception nothing but unsatisfactory, disappointing results. Some of these DIY experiments have produced juices that are occasionally interesting, but none of the experiments (again, as far as I know) has succeeded in creating a finished juice that tastes like the traditional profile of an RY4.

But enough of my looney-tunes speculation. Let's get more realistic. A much more likely reason for the use of 1% peach aldehyde as a "base ingredient" (since that's what it's listed under on the label) in Janty RY4 DK is that it's not a flavoring agent at all (you'll notice that individual flavorings are not listed on the Janty labels) and plays no role in the taste of the RY4, but instead adds a peach color to the liquid or maybe a very slight peach scent to the juice's nose, perhaps to compensate for or cover up a less pleasant odor. After all, the entire range of synthetic fruit aldehydes is used primarily for making perfumes.

For what it's worth, while not listed in either the RY4 nor the RY4-X in the Classic series labels, that 1% peach aldehyde is listed as a base ingredient in both the PG and VG versions of Janty RY4 in the Elixir series.

Very true bill. Health Cabin's RY4 smells like peach. Ry4's are too hit or miss for me from vendors, so I have been DIY'g it for several years. The blending to perfection is rare indeed.... even for manufacturers. I have both of perfumers apprentice peaches and like most of linda's stuff you have to tame it down considerably to use in a blend. I think i put 3 drops of her peach in 4mls of VG to tame it and sweeten it up. It's ok, but a different peach than what I am looking for. Too fruity. Think peach creamsicle from the Good Humor man when you were a kid and that's the peach that should work.

For Diy'rs out there, put a piece of double mint gum in your mouth while vaping your chosen not quite right Ry4 and the spearmint/mint will bring out those flavorful notes that the original dekang Ry4 had.

I have a few more flavors that I use, but peach is def in there ;-)
