Rob has a community of porcupine that live around his place. He's known them for several generations. At one time, they used to come in the house and yank on his pant leg to let him know they were around and if he had any spare apples they would be happy to help him consume them.... He's taken them to the vet when they need care...and just enjoyed their company over the years. Lately, he's moved their food further away from the house and kept his distance to restore some "natural order." We've been enjoying his photos and videos over the years...and we all joke about the secret porcupine security protecting the reolair. :D

I like to think that is what Rob turned into the first time he tried one of his amazing devices ! :D

Nice to know even the wildlife appreciate some innovative thinking :)

i'd do that too for a one time backup. but i use Win7 backup to automatically back everything up weekly and the usb drives are pretty cheap these days

If it were me I'd buy a WD or Seagate bare drive, cheap enclosure and a USB cable. Format the drive and back it up with the mfg backup software or a free backup program like EaseUS Todo Backup. Why pay extra (External drive) for a fancy enclosure and software?

For me, I would purchase the WD external drive, and use rsync to mirror my online drive to the backup drive. Never have to worry about backups, since rsync does it automatically.

ETA Right now, I am using rsync over scp to synchronize the files between multiple computers.

I can try that! I don't know if it will show there anymore. It is a gift and the person who paid for it used their paypal info to pay the invoice that was sent to me. So confusing. I can just be patient and wait until it arrives. Or not!

I would ask the person to check their e-mail to see if they got the tracking information. Rob ships M/W/F - and in most cases it's two days to get to you - so Friday shipping means Monday delivery.

You or someone else at your home will need to be there to sign for it, or you'll get a lovely peach slip left at your door to have it re-delivered when you're home, or for you to swing by the PO to pick it up.

Congratulations on your REO!

Be sure to start a new thread to introduce yourself and your REO when it gets there (with a picture), so that you'll get your official Reonaut badge, fat lady singing, and an invitation to get a custom avatar created with YOUR REO in it!

Good Morning reonutz;)
Hi Robin:)
I'm happy to see you collection has changed, but I guess you do need to get a metal one back in the rotation for all the new goodies going live this week. (brass doors are gonna be outrageous!!!) maybe the mini 2.125;) SL
My fav has been this curly oak woodvil MamaDoes sent to me. I've had a few wood mods from over the years and I must say there is something magical about a gifted Reo. When I left for the bayou state I left my black palm at home, scared the humidity and what not might warp it, or who knows. I'm getting soo much use of this little devil, and it is just plain awesome. Yesterday I parked it on top of a 20 foot steel concrete from while I took some checkout shots (survey dept.) My "magical traveler" is right at home ,on the job site in my hand:)
Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday, unless you have other plans.
Love my peeps, Buddy

I honestly do not feel the need for any metal - that may change in the future, who knows? I'm excited about the mechanical woodvils. Honestly - the warmth of the feel of the wood AND the button placement are why I love them so much. They are much more comfortable in my hand.

So is your family still in the Atlanta area?

Good morning, REOvil! Just a quick pop in to say Hello!! :)
Everything here is good, just trying to get back in the groove of doing more than just hanging around in the Lounge. Took three days to hook up my old pc, reset it to factory settings and install much overdue updates. Fingers crossed that it helped. It shut down normally last night when I finally finished and hasn't sounded like a jet preparing for take off yet, so seems better so far.
I hope everyone is well and ready for Summer.

Hello everyone. I know I have been missing in action! Just been busy. I heard Rob has and update for the Reo Grands? Is this a new firing pin? I heard rumor that with this you will no longer need to file the pin? Short of me reading back in these posts can someone update me? Thanks

Hi Cheri! good to see you! and yes to your question!

Do I have skype?   Wish I had Lisa's LMAO emoticon for that one!
No, I don't, and doubt I could have it even if I wanted it. Along with the computer updating I did this past week, I spent a few more hours on the phone with the internet service...only to have At&t drop the call when we were finally getting somewhere. Then spent another hour with At&T trying to get anything better for internet and cell reception. I am in the one little dot on the map of Texas that doesn't get coverage for anything.
My back is doing great, this surgery was a breeze compared to the last one. Can't wait to get the other side done. I can tell a huge difference, and feel like the next (and last) surgery will have me completely up and running again.
