Good evening, everyone!

Are you tired of the new house stuff yet? I promise I'll back off...Val is right...things are going to slow back down again, visually anyway...so I'll be posting less about it. But first....
We're one day away from having it covered...all the trusses are up, almost half the roof is sheeted, and then we're on to the next step. Framers should be packing to leave the jobsite for good on Thursday. Roofers may start Friday.


Tonight we ate our first dinner in the new house....ya, not spectacular.

Kitchen skylight is framed...the one in the living room is nearly done.

very sad news Frank. my condolences

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

Oh man, Frank. I am so sorry for the sorrow you and your family are feeling. I wish I could hug you right now. Please reach out if you want to talk about anything. I said prayers for her yesterday and I hope she is in a pain-free, happy place flitting around with friends and family. So sorry, man.

Ya...I think I'm going to copy that one down too....I love the sentiment and the tenderness of it.


And yes...we have two large skylights going against the grain....sideways instead of lengthways. They're 6' wide. Because our property is deep in the trees, it gets really dark so we figured skylights would help keep it more naturally lit inside. The front of our house also has 8' covered porches....so we lose a lot of light there as well.
