Amnesia and friends, thanks for all the pics and what not
I picked up a R91 the other day locally. I don't have a kayfun and have a love hate relationship with bottom coil tanks in general, so I was hesitant to start posting pics and impressions and what not.
My findings regarding the finish were kind of like yours. I didn't however find any blatant scratches, but I did find some scuffs on the tank sections (uneven finish?), and its a fingerprint/grime magnet. Also my 510 drip tip adapter doesn't thread down so I'm going back to the BnM today to sort that all out.
I don't have high hopes as far as getting this thing to work well for me, but I want to be proven wrong which is why I bought it.
Hopefully with some help from you guys I can work it out. The only bottom/vacuum style tank that ever worked for me was the penelope (juice control wide open), otherwise, they simply never wick well enough for me. And its not like I'm new to this, been building coils and screwing around with a plethora of wick materials for a very long time now.
Anyway, be back later!
EDIT: I also had the thought that I would take the finish down and either leave it brushed or even go for high polish. The thing that gave me pause was I'm not sure what the outer tank material is? I think it may be anodized aluminum and I wouldn't want to screw anything up. Then again that pic on the nemesis up above looks fantastic Doc!
The R91 itself is S/S. I am pretty sure the finish on the R91 is just a fine silver metallic paint. Whatever it is, it rips straight off with a bit of cutting compound. The polishing on my R91 took less than an hour.
