That looks pretty slick. Is that the glass middle section?

I have the newest Russian 91% and am currently using 100% VG through it.
When you bore out the vertical channels you risk flooding the chamber every time you inhale, since there isn't any cotton there to stop it. They are basically just two small straws.
Before performing major surgery I'd check my wick first.

The ecowool is probably the issue. Have you tried cotton? It wicks a lot better than ecowool.
What about your coil? Is it a microcoil? What diameter?

I find 5/64 diameter micro works the best in Kayfuns. That seems to be the sweet spot for wick diameter.

Make sure the cotton you get is 100% cotton and preferably organic. Easy way to test your cotton is to grab a piece with tweezers and torch it. If it basically disintegrates, you are good. If it melts together, well.....

After some experimentation with the wick, I'm happy to say that performance has gotten much better. I'm using cotton and after making the wick a bit longer than I did initially and stuffing it to cover the entire base of the chamber, including placing it at the channels, it is wicking really well.I have the newest Russian 91% and am currently using 100% VG through it.

Ha! They're not blocked, just really small holes with about 1mm visible when the cylinder is attached. If you mean the wick blocking, I'm not compressing it into the channel but rather gently placing it directly above. I believe this talk of "blocking" with the wick is somewhat of a misnomer since loose cotton is more than porous enough to allow air to penetrate. I definitely have better performance now that the cotton is directly over the holes, as opposed to when it sat nearby.good to hear it's wicking well. odd that it does with the channels blocked![]()
I haven't tried cotton in the Russian yet. Don't know the diameter but I believe it's the same width as the air hole post.
I do use cotton in my dripper with dual nano coils. Works good once the cotton taste goes away.

No flavor break in, straigh(ish) fibers, crazy easy to cut and wick with consistency. Separate one of the pads like opening a sandwich, then cut a thin strip along the fiber grain. Twist one end into a point and slide it right through the coil.
Looking good. Those Provari bases look to be an awesome accessory for an around the house mod. Built in stand no matter where you put it.
