It's all about why you do it. Is it a hobby? Sounds like addiction denial, but if you believe it is just a hobby, then get some self-control. If you are buying a new PV or mod instead of food, that's a problem. Is it a means to quit analogs? Then stop trying to enjoy it so much and use it only get off nicotine altogether. Find a juice that gives you what you need and stick to it. Find a good PV and use it until you are free. Honestly, and this is something many here won't like: stop coming here. This place is feeding the monkey people. When you smoked analogs, did you hang around forums where smokers talk about great cigs? No. You had your brand and didn't think about it past buying and smoking. I never sat at home fretting over advances in cigarette technology. This place was invaluable when I was starting just a week ago. Now I know what I need to know , have my PV working well, found a good juice and am well off analogs; mission accomplished and on to the next thing. Why linger over it? Again, we all have different reasons for vaping, I know. I am just saying, that's all.

I have gone way over what I would have spent on analogs. As of today, I am laid off. Can you say broke? I knew it was coming so I checked sales and the classifieds. I have enough juice, cartos/atomizers to last me at least until June. With my last purchase of juice I am good for about a year. I planned ahead but my budget for the next few months should be ZERO. I have a few bottom feeder mods and enough 14500 and 18650 batteries to last quite some time.

I'm glad to here theres some other people like me.. and at the same time feel like an idiot / online shop-a-holic reading people's posts sayings they've only spent 100 bucks in 4 months.

No joke... 3000 freaking dollars. Sad thing is, I can't say I regret any of my purchases. I'm loving vaping. My life was bland, and I LOVE jumping into new hobbies. Sure it's been expensive, and this may be me attempting to justify my spending in any way I can but -- I really think I'm done for at least 3 months. I have enough DIY supplies to make a freaking swimming pool of flavored liquid. Hoping to gain that money back, and be done with it.

Can someone please just try and make me feel better? Is there ANYONE who has had success in stopping their spending? I can NOT spend another dime on anything, yet I keep looking at different vendors and suppliers.

I need to block all these websites for at least a month. Keep my mind off this stuff.

Player30 went about 90 days. there were a few others in that thread who stopped buying stuff with varying degrees of success.

Yeah, my signature is a lie as well. For every dollar I've "saved" I've probably spent 50cents on PV gear. I know that I've got a fever, and I'm almost at the point where the only things I buy are cartos and juice. And my juice is pretty cheap. The worst are Mods and Tanks. And the Bolt/roughstack from madvapes, and the new Smok Tech DC tanks have been able to fix that. Provided you don't go overboard.

The trick is to find out exactly what you want or need, In my case 3 tanks, Vv mod, 3.7 mod, backup ego(s), cartos, juice and at least 1 drip atty. Make that list, as you get things on the list, you cross em out and DONT BUY MORE! Replace cartos, attys and juice as needed, but don't go buy 50 drip tips just because. *cough trippytips (save some for the rest of us!!)* Don't buy silver bullets in 5 colors, and don't buy 3 different bottom feeders just because.... unless you can afford to blow money on such things.

The banner in my sig is a lie, bud. I'm right there with you. I'm vaping and scared, as I put off buying more atties, and now I'm using my last one. This is uncomfortable as when you were stuck at work and only had one cigarette, and it was only 10a.m. coffee break!! I ordered some more last weekend. I hope they're here today. The spending is a thought-out process for me at this point. ECF doesn't help to much in this respect because a battle is waged in my brain everytime that new, shiny Thingamizontadariator is announced. First instinct is,"I MUST HAVE ONE!!". Then the realization that A) I can't afford it / B) I shouldn't buy it / C) Why in God's name did I just hit "Add to Cart"??

The banner in my sig is a lie. I couldn't tell you how much I've spent or saved. I started a diary of expenses when I first started vaping. I gave up after I hit $400 in the 2nd month. Sad, indeed.

Good news tho! I CAN BREATHE!! -Priceless

"Good news tho! I CAN BREATHE!!"

That part of your banner ISN'T a lie. And, that's what counts. : )

Vaping is constantly evolving. You can't compare the dinky 510 models with what's available now. I tried vaping 4 years ago but couldn't stick with it because of the lack of battery life and availability/price of cartos. It is only natural that people would try a few models in between as they sought to compensate for the shortcomings of the initial models.

I would buy sampler packs from well-known liquid suppliers. Standardize on something you like and get decent hardware. Then you'll be spending for 2 cartos a week and liquid. For me that is about $6 for the cartos and $17 for the liquid. So, approximately $23 per week. Add another $10 per week for the occasional new carto, new flavor liquid etc. $33 per week.
With smoking I was at about $84 per week.

There are millions that use shopping as stress relief. I believe they call it "shopping therapy".

I bought an overpriced PV (Pig Cig $89 starter kit) when I started. And, when I realized I could have "shinier & better" for half the price, I was very tempted to order this and that right away. But, I didn't. Today I received my replacement battery (one failed after a few weeks) from the company I bought the Pig Cig from originally. That meant I had to limp by for a couple of weeks on one battery. Early on I had a feeling that if I started buying "back-up" kits, I would be spending big $'s. My first eJuice order I got a 30ml Mint with my 30ml Menthol. Didn't like the Mint that much, but let it sit for a couple of weeks and when I had a shipping problem on my next 30ml Menthol, I vaped the Mint for the next 10 days until I received more menthol. Turns out steeping does help, a bit. Sure the Mint wasn't as good as the Menthol I like, but it was way better than some of the sample juices (three 5ml bottle for $10) I had tried. Bottom line. Even the "not so good tasting" eJuice tastes better than analogs ever did. I try and vape only when I used to smoke (early morning; after a meal; etc...) which keeps me from vaping "too much", while giving me my nic fix.

The hobby of vaping is fine, if that's what the Vaper is looking for, but for me I am staying off the death sticks with it. No more, no less. I've spent around $150 in the 5 weeks I have been vaping. I hope to spend less than $100 per month - that would include replacement PV kits over the next year, or so. Which I now know I can get for under $50. : )

I'm not that great of a budgeter or a spend-thrift. Maybe it's that I want to eventually stop vaping, and don't want all this cool stuff I have to let go of. And, posts like this one have helped me see that this can be an expensive "habit" if I am not careful.

Good post. Thanks.
