Since I'm almost pathologically interested in surviving whatever government-sponsored Vapegeddon might be on the horizon, I've been looking at this whole rba thing as a sort of fascinated spectator, yet moving forward in an astonishingly stupid, tentative and haphazard way.
Let's see... there are oodles of $8.99 rebuildables that no one seems to want or ever talk about. Then there are the $150 rebuildables that are available for about 3 minutes every six months until they sell out, and whether or not they will ever return is the subject of much rumor, speculation and consternation, though you can sometimes get lucky enough to find one in the classys if you have a gazillion dollars for the 1200% markup. In between, there are various mixed reports concerning the $12 to $28 clones & chones that are easy to find and sometimes work really, really well as long as you have drills, Dremel tools and exactly the right sort of after-market screws. But then again sometimes they don't because they leak or burn or work great for two days as long as you never tip them on their side.
And I almost forgot: There is one "tweener", the Terminator. Good college end-rusher, but does it have the size and speed to play in the NFL? At $59, it seems to be right on the bubble...
So I bought a Vision Eternity and a Cov Gen 1, both of which are still sitting in their boxes. I bought 100 ft of kanthal ga32 and two big sheets of 12 x 12 SS 500 mesh. Oh and I got a roll of silica wick too, "just to have it". I have a digital multimeter and one of these days I'm going to get really ambitious and purchase a blowtorch!
I'm living proof that just because one can score well on a standard Stanford-Binet, it doesn't mean that he's not an idiot.
I had a ZAU in my cart the other day and almost pulled the trigger but couldn't quite do it. I also almost pulled the trigger on the Mini DID (which seem to be available for more than three minutes) at MMVapors, but couldn't quite do that either. Then I kicked myself for hesitating on the ZAU, but no so much over the Mini DID, because after all, it might still be available, which would of course mean that it doesn't matter whether I should have purchased it or not. In the meantime:
Mini Vivi Novas vape just fine. Cartos in glass tanks vape just fine. If it wasn't for my paranoia about the future availability of these disposable products I would probably just be a happy vaper and leave it at that, but I want a permanent solution, which clearly makes me not only an idiot who's in denial of the basic existential fact of human mortality, but an obsessive compulsive idiot at that. Except I think I may be an obsessive compulsive idiot who still needs a stockpile of silver NR wire, because I don't have any of that yet.
I'll probably start by trying to rebuild one of the Vivi Novas, and if that goes well move on to the Cov... One of these days...
And thanks for letting me get this inane rant off of my chest. Happy vaping!
