Let me start by first giving a disclaimer: I believe there is room for all people and all points of view in regards to vaping. This is merely my view on the current state of our culture, given what we are trying to accomplish after the new California law and the FDA deemed regulations, what I feel we must change to insure a future for vaping.

Okay, that being said I'm going to address a major issue, as I see it, that is effectively putting vapers in a bad light, attracting negative press and a horrible overall public view of vaping.

There is a sub culture within our culture and I will refer to this group as "cloud chasers / tricksters". Again I stress, there is room for all of us in vaping but as I see it, they are not helping the cause. I know of few of these "cloud chasers / tricksters" personally and for the most part they are great and courteous people, so if you are or consider yourself one please don't take offense or do if this applies to you apply it, but for the purpose of this post am addressing all of them as whole as most of the government and general public will do and the affect they have on all of us as a whole as well These "cloud comps" / "trick comps" can contribute to making vapers appear like a bunch of immature idiots who vape just for the thrill of how big a cloud you can blow and what cool tricks you can do. For the most part they seem not to care where they are or who's around, they seem to have this "I don't give a .... attitude" and" if you don't like it oh well, it's legal".

Come on, let's get real, this honestly makes us all look like a bunch of douche bags. We are and have been for the last several years under constant scrutiny from the public and the media and the "cloud chasers / tricksters" don't seem to care. They continually undermine the tireless work of all the advocacy organizations and make it hard for anyone to take us seriously. If we are to change this we must change public perception and the only way to do this is reevaluate our image and show people we aren't just "cloud chasers / tricksters" and that, though they are a part of us, they do not represent all that we are. If you are a "cloud chaser / trickster" take a moment to consider what I have said here and reflect on what is at stake and what you can to to further the industry and change your image.

As I wrote this I realize it may sound as though I'm coming of a bit "holier than thou" or that I am asking that you change who you are and that is the very last thing I would ever consider doing. I am however a believer in "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one or the few" and there are those of us who need vaping. There are jobs at stake, an entire industry is simply going to vanish if we cannot unite and work together to fight this. It is a sad state of affairs when we are even mocked and hated by smokers the very people most of us try to educate and help get away from a product that is slowly killing them.

Thanks for your opinion.
It is my experience however that the only ones that consider any of what you
said an issue our us vapers. In the 499 pages of the just released deeming regs
nothing concerning vaping etiquette is mentioned once. The only thing I have
seen as to the oppositions objections to public vaping concerns health related
second hand exposure issues. Nothing at all concerning any particular style or
form of vaping. to them all forms of vaping are equal. All of it is bad.
Regards
Mike

We all don't vape the same so it boggles my mind how cloud chasers are this negative subset whenever someone wants to express their opinion. I personally don't enjoy vaporless vaping but if that works for you, then I'm happy for you!!

The deeming regs have nothing to do with how big or little ones cloud is or isn't.

While I understand, and mostly agree with the OP, I also have to agree with the other posters. This has everything to do with money, or the loss of it, in fact, that's bringing this on.
We have a government that is fueled by ignorance, arrogance, and lots of money. We've let it get out of hand for too long, and now it's become a monster we can no longer control. Welcome to "1984" ladies and gentlemen.

Its sad that at this point some people are still trying to divide us.

I must say that this guy with his message of hate is very much the exception. I've been to many vape shops in the past week and in each I talked of the FDA situation. Without exception everyone from tootle puffer to the Vapomatic 2000 user was in support of each other.

I think 99% of vapers get that its a tax and control thing and the other 1% are two stupid to matter.

If cloud chasing bothers you, deal with it politely. I have found politeness works wonders with people. The other day I was at the mall and there was a younger hat cocked sideways, pants pulled down so his underpants were showing prominently gentleman standing at the outer doors and he was fogging up the place so people had to walk through his fog to get in or out. I walked up to him and politely asked him to stop. He said something about "cuttin me" and took a deep inhale to blow in my face. So I politely took that opportunity to punch him in the throat. It's really hard to chuck clouds with a crushed larynx.

I personally don't see room for those who hate us for vaping, and deliberately engineering conflicts in public for no reason other than their hate of something they don't do. I've run into several notable and egregious examples of this in my time vaping, and it's just plain hate and ignorance. What's behind that is the ignorance and bigotry of really unhappy people who need something and someone to take their anger out on, so they target vapers just because it's something they themselves don't do, and they automatically hate it, because that's just how they are and they need something to take vent their hate on. I've been attacked and antagonized by such people on multiple occasions in public for just vaping where it's explicitly allowed and no restrictions applied, because they are just plain haters. I make no room for that.

Sorry, but I see no room for that bunch.

This is entirely irrelevant now. Trying to "play nice" got us absolutely nowhere, as the FDA was always determined to crush the industry, and it has nothing to do with "cloud chasing".

"Advocacy" means nothing to bureaucrats, or even to our "representatives", who routinely ignore facts to advance their own agendas. It's too easily dismissed. We need activism.
