Many logos have words. I would not say that is rare in the least. Every "brand" written in a certain way-- Kellogg's, southwest, marlboro, etc. . . those are all trademarked logos in addition to being the brand names.

The things you mentioned aren't logos, they are just trademarks. Kellogg's logo is a K, Marlboro's logo is a coat of arms with two horses on either side and a crown on top, and Southwest's logo is a pair of wings with a heart in the middle. Some companies choose to use other trademarks of their's to represent their brand rather then their logo, while other companies don't even have a defined logo. But a logo by definition is a symbol or emblem. I've taken a bunch of classes on graphic art, advertising design, commercial art, etc, so I'd like to think that I know what I'm talking about, lol

I was going to do an entirely new one but I got a little overwhelmed with work, because I was doing this stuff while also making a banner and logo for another site as well as starting to redo their layout, and finally I'm doing some freelance work for this clothing company and the t-shirt design that they're looking for is pretty intricate and involved, but maybe I'll get a chance to make another banner/logo combo for vape Escape before tomorrow morning.

Ladies and gentlemen!

I am here now to present to you the winners of the contest.

Before I do, I would like to say that I appreciate everyone that participated in the contest and that your actions will not be forgotten. If you didn't win it was not because your work wasn't good but just that it didn't go as well with the website when compared to the winner. For participating in the contest, everyone will be granted a discount come grand opening. I will PM you to remind you of your discount when the time comes.

That being said here are the winners!

For the banner:

The original animated banner by Swamptiger which is very similar to the one posted except it doesn't have the sparkling things coming down. hehe

For the logo:

Swamptiger with his four logos. From the four logos I will try to scrap something from each to create a smaller version. Perhaps just the lettering?

For the slogan:

Swamptiger with "...a new experience awaits you"

It was between this one and "take a break"
Both made very good sense but to escape is a new experience and a break is only temporary.
