I guess I am a tinkerer.
I had a box full of juice that tasted bad on fixed batteries and iclear 16s.
I went straight to VV/VW mods from fixed, I found a range of juice in that box that tasted good all the sudden, all at different settings on the same coils. I do not really care what mode the mod uses or is limited to as long as it is variable. I can do math, VV is VW, VW is VV depends on what side of the equation or mod is working from.
I now have an embarrassing collection of stuff in a wide variety of resistances and an entire menu of juice options in varying strengths/flavors. I do not want to sit down and do a spreadsheet on what tastes best for me at what setting at a given resistance. 1.5ohms on a Russian is way different from 1.5 ohms on a rewound Kanger coil in a PT2....
It is way easier for me to throw some juice in something, slap it on the mod, find the setting that works for me and go with it. If it tastes different during the day I can bump it up or down according to taste.
For me I do not care what it varies by as long as it varies.
.1 increments in VV is a slightly finer degree of adjustment than .5 increments in VW
.1 increments in VW is pretty darn cool.
Nothing is easier than winding my two coils like I always do, slapping them in the dual coil RDA and putting them on a mechanical mod. I know exactly what works best with that and go with it for days.
