The wick in my Kayfun MV3 seems to dry out very quickly and produce burnt hits, is this common?

You should never have to pour juice over the wick. Just loosening off the top cap should cause juice to flow into the atomizer. It sounds like you have too much wick and you're blocking the juice holes. Ummmmmm...... you are opening the flow control I assume.
well I think its all the way shut I'm not sure, ive got it how it came, ive screwed it all the way round till it cant go no more

Well, that's the problem. You shut it when you fill it because with the mini v3 you take the top cap off to fill it. Once you have it back on, hold on to the base and turn the tank counter clockwise 2 - 3 full turns. You'll see the bubbles coming up from the bottom and you'll know the juice is flowing. Just make sure you're not unscrewing the glass. You should see the insides turning as you turn it.

Just to clarify, with the mini v3, screwing and unscrewing the deck is the flow control. Before filling, you tighten it down. This closes the flow control. If you don't do this, juice will come seeping out of the air holes as you're filling it. Then you remove the top cap and pour juice down the outer walls, not down the center tube. Just fill to the top of the glass and leave some air space. Once it's full, screw the top cap back on. Then unscrew the deck 2 - 3 turns. This opens the flow control and you're ready to vape.
