Hayyyy...You guys were supposed to wait for me!! Jeez I go away for a week and look at all the readin I gotta do now. Bad enough I was stuck with no internet...two channels on tv and didnt sleep for 5 days because I had to share an air mattress with my son that sleeps like a tornado. Then I left with only t-shirts and shorts and it dropped down to like 34 degrees up there. Well I guess I better get caught up here. Projects looking good guys from a quick glance...leaving mine in the dust...but I do have another concoction whipped up, more on that when I recover.

Tubes were waiting for me Dan...Thanks

Hey Hey Hey..... Look what showed... Thank god your still alive. I was worried....... No really I was :D

Ha...sometimes I wonder if I am too...but I'm not done being a PITA to people yet. ;) Besides...I cant die yet, they planted some geezer in my grave plot up home. Thats why I had to go to PA...now on top of everything else I got dead bodies being shoved down my throat.

Sorry, I had to leave a day earlier than planned and I didnt get a chance to get back on here...but I appreciate your concern C...and Surf. But you cant go anywhere...you got work to do here!:D

So whats the theory behind the two wire system C? You gonna run one primary and then when it starts to cool kick in the 4 barrel secondaries?

I gotta get some of that Rutland Black too. I looked at the MSDS on it and it does contain Sodium Hydroxide (lye) so do you think it would have to be isolated from being ingested any way or what?

Yes I know...back to being a PITA with the questions.

It's really nice to have you back nico, and your never a big PITA, just a little one.:)

Running the parallel coils allows more area coverage and lowers resistance. We don't need superheated coils we just need hot coils over a wider area. This means I can cover 2 times the area with the same resistance. Granted the current through each is divided by half but the goal was to cover a larger area. I need to do some more experiments to get a good feel for the optimum temperature versus flow but more area seems like the right way to go. Oh, and I found that you really do need some kind of filler in the tube to force the liquid against the glass "wetting wire" or it will sputter and spit and not produce good vapor.

Yes the rutland black/coil section should be isolated. Dan did a nice job on this using that silicone O'ring and red cap thingamajig surrounded by large diameter glass tubing. I know you can get better high temperature epoxy but you cant get it as cheaply as the rutland black. If the atomizer is working efficently then there sould be no liquid overflowing out of the glass tube.

Why not use a metal that doesn't conduct electrical current or a teflon coating on it?

No disrespect but that's an oxymoron. Metal by nature is inherently conductive. There are some metal coatings that are nonconductive but I'm not sure of the heat resistance of these coatings.

Oh sorry candre you beat me to it.

Hey C...I found this jack...think it will work or will it melt the insulator separating the center post from the outer?

That looks good nico. I'm guessing there is a hollow metal center tube on the conector. The metal center will shield any heat from getting to the plastic. Give it a go. What's the worst that could happen? Shyty plastic smell through the house. Just spread some extra reed diffusers in nice smelly shyt around the house.:D

Glad yer back,Nico!
BTW, that jack looks like da' shyt. What is it called formally, when it's doing it's intended thing....not being used for modding?
C, am I gonna be duct taping a batt-pack to my Wiz??????!!!!!!!!!!

nicos connector looks like one of those wall-wart plugs (DC Power Jack). The only problem I see is how the mate can supply the voltage to it. For testing he can just clip leads to the tabs and will work fine. Not sure if it is worthy as a pluggable solution since the mate has a solid center pin smaller than the glass tube itself.

If any of you guys need a drilled RCA connector pair just let me know. I had to drill them on my lathe so I did 10 at one time. It was impossible to do with a drill press. Tried 2 on the press and couldn't keep the drill from angling through the solid metal pin.
