sorry chopdoc... wanted to like your post til I saw metallica... long story, but short version is that I WAS a fan... til the Napster fiasco... hubby was sued by them, and it was for a song that couldn't be bought anywhere (don't remember the name of the song, but I do remember hubby being bummed that all he could get was a live version off the internet)... this after years of metallica ENCOURAGING bootlegging.

from weird al's parody of enter sandman :

Now I lay Lars down to sleep, pray his copyrights to keep
If he gets poor before he wakes, he'll have to sell fries and shakes
Hush little Lar-ry (Larsy?) don't say a word, and never mind that noise you heard
It's just a fan making bootleg tapes, I hope you choke on your sour grapes
Wow that really bites, did you ever have to pay them any restitution?
Lars is such a prime DB.
Was Lars Ulrich to Blame for Lack of Bass on Metallica's '... And Justice For All'?

That wasnt against you either Ryedan or any other ModWompers here. I have yet to see a drama queen here but there are some on ECF as well as other places that love to cry "the sky is falling".

I LOVE SYLVESTHER!

There's a "scruffy fluffy" tuxedo stray around here, and I swear to god, the first time I laid eyes on that cat, I said "Thuffering Thucotash!"

Yes, Lars is a DB. And I know it was a lawyer whispering in his ear "you're losing TONS of money to napster users". But Lars was the one stupid/greedy enough to fall for it.

Did you see the news video of the reams of printouts being taken into the courthouse (not necessary for the case, only necessary for photo ops)? Yeah, our name, address, and IP address, along with the name of the song and the date it was "shared" was in those printouts.

No, we cut a deal so didn't have to pay. We signed something saying we would never download any metallica stuff again (and I think it even said we'd uninstall napster and never use it again, but maybe that's my overactive imagination lol.) The alternative was a hefty fine if we lost in court.

When this all happened, we owned a bunch of metallica cds, some we had bought multiple times because of loaning them out and not getting them back. Even though we COULD have downloaded ALL of them. We're both musicians and believe in giving musicians their due. They needn't worry - we'll never download anything from metallica again - but we will also never buy anything either.

Maybe 10 or years ago I made a private ftp site on my domain for a bunch of us on the 'unofficial' Godflesh forum because alot of the weirdo music we listen to has long gone out of print. So out of print and live stuff was all good and we stayed a happily sharing community for a few years. Someone decided to upload Metallica's demo 'No Life Til Leather' (which got them noticed through TAPE TRADING) and it almost immediately flagged something and I had my domain suspended. I had to give em a BS story about giving a friend an ftp account that he abused without my knowledge so they would restore my band/record label website heh. I was a huge fan of them in the 80s but man, they really jumped the shark and have forgotten who they were. The Big 4 concert was down the street from my house in Coachella so we went. Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer all ruled, but we left about two songs into Metallicas set. When he started his crooning singing crap on Creeping Death we were like 'Ok were out'.

My Mini Maglite is roughly the same size and shape as a Protank on a Spinner.

I use to like protanks on Ego 1100 mah batteries. I have some of these lanyards where I could have a couple on me and not care if they fell out of a pocket. Now it I took a drag off a protank im like "hmmm, is this thing even on?"

Afternoon womp rats! My work computer decided it needed to do a check disk:sneaky:

I have a quest for you. I just watched the last hobbit movie and there is a tiny snippet that I would love to have as a postable video clip. Alfrid(?) on the shores of laketown, after the destruction, screaming "won't anybody think of the children!?"

Just got my Smok TFV4 out of the mail box. It comes with the tri coil installed. I juiced it up with some sweet Vanilla Cherry Cigar that I DIY at max VG, gave it a shot at 100 watts and holy you know what!

This thing hits hard but its a well thought out, well built RTA. I tried it at 135 watts and it was too much for me so turned it back down to 100 watts. Massive clouds but also massive flavor. When I heard about the mouth piece design I was thinking WTF but now I understand. Its a hot vape at those temps but open the airflow control on the mouth piece and it makes it a much cooler vape without sacrificing any flavor. My living room/kitchen is as smokey as a bar room on a Friday night at the moment but wow is all i can say. This is a true Mod Wompers dream!

sorry chopdoc... wanted to like your post til I saw metallica...

I saw the And Justice tour and it was awesome. That was about the last album I liked from them. I also lost most of my respect for them over the Napster thing, but will keep rocking the And Justice and earlier stuff...
