You are some lucky it didn't let go while you were taking it apart. Not worth risking personal injury over a piece of vape gear.

That is why we don't carry mods in our pockets. I am glad you got it salvaged though...

Yeah I was about to run to the loading dock and drop it over the edge (I wouldve had to drop it between the edge of the dock and the trailer that was backed in)! I have no idea where else I couldve thrown it though. Weve just unloaded a truck over the last two days so the warehouse is full of merch right now.. Glad I didnt have to burn down all the new Star Wars stuff that came in for christmas! Gonna make it a habit now to double check and tighten up the screw every morning now when I swap batteries. Ive had them come loose before but nowhere near that much that it hit the battery.

@chopdoc - yeah, that's kinda what I figured. I actually did pretty well getting it loaded up. Just built up a 2nd BF Velocity - 26g/8wrap/3mm - rings in at about 1.3 ohms.

Got the VF from GearBest. Was supposed to be a TC version (40W). I contacted GearBest to see if there's any more documentation.

@MikeyConti - sweetie - you need to wrangle on one of these. It's pretty freaking cool. I REALLY like that it's regulated. I like the Smokeless Owl, but hate that the vape quality dies as the battery level starts to fade. By the time my battery gets to about 3.8V, I can't really tell I'm pulling anything. (That, and I like having a battery indicator and somewhat of an ohmmeter :) )

I got mine from GearBest also but it was VW/VV 40 watt one.

Man had my first mech scare today!! Was in the back room at work unloading the truck and putting stock away. All of a sudden felt my leg getting REALLY hot. Pulled out my Stingray and the damn thing was SUPER HOT and getting worse by the second. Actually blistered my fingers holding it while I was quickly unscrewing the fire button in the warehouse. Thank god I got it out quick enough before it vented or anything. Turns out the screw that holds the button together (aka the negative pin) somehow worked its way loose and had come out enough it shoved my battery into the Derringers positive post. No clue how long it was firing before it got that hot but man I thought my hand was gonna burn off when I was holding it!! Took my break a little bit later and luckily everything was still working, although I charred the crap out of my wick, I had to hold off on vaping until I got home and threw the battery in my other Stingray, that taste of burnt cotton and watermelon candy was just not very good! :D

@chopdoc - where did you score the VF squonker clone?? Ive kinda wanted to try a squonker, that one looks pretty cool.

One I got came from Gearbest but I just looked on the site and the only vapeflask squonk boxes they list now it the TC ones. I dont believe mine was a TC version.

Once I put a freshly-built coil, it seemed to act much better. Mommee liiiiiiiiike :) Blew through about 3ml juice and a fresh 18650 last evening :D

I still haven't heard anything about the TC that I thought I got, but I do get prompts like I've seen other TC devices asking for "same coil" or "different coil" (which is why it's making me think it's TC) I just want to know how to change settings. This is supposed to be VV/VW, and I don't even know how to change to VV mode o_O

I get the "same coil" prompt all the time. Even got a "short" message last night. The juice going thru the tube into the addy leaks a bit at the connector and makes the mod think it is a new atty or something. Only happens when its been sitting a while.

I guess since I upgraded from an Ego pen to an Innokin Coolfire that makes me a Mod Womper now....
The "tribes" are just a bit of silliness. We are all just Vapers.

That said, many of the coolfire users frequent the tootle puffer thread. Lots of kitty's there too. :)

Ohhhh my.....
IMG_20151001_212218290~2.jpg

ETA - VERY FIRST Ni200 coil. 26g, 3.5mm, 0.17ohms. Thanks to Boden, figured how to switch on the temp mode. Even at 22W and 380 degrees - very tasty vape....

Not getting any "off-taste" I've seen others mention when vaping Ni.

Thanks to y'all for helping me cross this new hurdle :)

Excellent Job!
I was going to say 26g Ni 200 wire... 80 wraps later, but it actually wasn't that much and the 26g would be easier to work with than 28g or 30g. If you are going to try the smaller wire, Tempered Ni 200 is almost like working with Kanthal.

The Velocity build deck must help quite a bit too, all that room to work in. They say the Velocity Mini has the same build deck and more flavor due to the shorter chamber.

Very Impressed!

Thank you @TrollDragon . I'm honored :)

I grabbed a touch of 26, 28, and 32g Ni. Had NO clue what resistance to build so I read through other threads to see what others did. Hit up steam engine to get an idea of what number of wraps I needed.

Read that Ni should be spaced. Winged it. Yes, the velocity deck rocks. I guess I'll be looking at a mini or two ;)
