Yep looks like it but I think the technique is valid.

For myself unless I really need to I don't remove the glass. Just rinse it out and such. Not a Melo since I don't have one though.

Most Tanks/Clearos I just soak in hot distilled water, if I dont have to remove the Glass I dont. Been working out good that way!
