Cleef was the bad, Eastwood the good (questionable, but you have to look at all 3 characters) and Wallach the ugly.
Barring extenuating circumstances, anyone who causes someone pain and does not do everything in their power to make that right is not a person worthy of much consideration. Anyone who does that to someone they supposedly love and does not do everything they can to make it right forfeits their right to membership in the human race.
