Haven't been on HF in several years now. When I moved out West I sold off my higher end stuff and really never had the luxury of getting back into it. I still have a pair of A-T ESW9's and my trusty Grado 225's, but my nice equipment, amps and reference cans are long gone, sadly.

I quite miss it. I had been the main organizer of Toronto meets for a few years. Even landed Ray Samuels as a guest at one of them. I also made it down to Can Jam in... jeez, I want to say 2008? Was in Ft. Lauderdale, anyway.

I've always suspected the mod scene would likely attract the stereo-weirdos and I guess I'm not totally wrong!

I picked up my FiiO X3 and E12 from the HeadphoneBar in Vancouver great online shop for me. Always wanted a pair of 225's but never picked up any. I see that HiFiMan is starting move into Stax territory with the pricing of the new HE1000's.
I always liked the look of Ray's gear and his portables are quite popular.

vape gear is expensive, but nothing like the rabbit hole that is personal audio.

Ahh thats easy! Grab one of the many e-juice calculators, either an online version or an app version and itll do the work for you! The E-Juice Me Up calculator runs on Windows and rocks. I use it on my Mac in a virtual Windows box all the time. Theres plenty for Android phones, and Im sure for the iPhone as well. You just put in your nicotine base strength, tell it where you want it to end up and how much you want to make, along with PG/VG ratio. Then you pop in the percentages of each flavor of your recipe and BAM. The calculator will tell you exactly how much of each liquid you need. I was intimidated by it at first but eventually got tired of inconsistency with store bought juices and jumped right in. I went with TFA flavorings since theres a GIANT thread full of recipes using that brand in the DIY forum. I struggled for the first couple months confident I could make it on my own, but once I gave in and tried a couple of Bills Magic Vapor's recipes, I never turned back! The $10 120ml bottle of 100mg nicotine I bought at the end of last november is STILL not empty yet either (I make 6mg juice so YMMV).

I don't see that happening any time soon. After all, you're not buying nic base from a B&M. So if you live in LA and are subject to the tax, but you're buying it from Wizard Labs in FL, how is LA supposed to collect the tax? They can't impose the tax on a company outside of LA. That would be taxation on interstate commerce, which is the jurisdiction of the federal government. Same as states can't force nonresident companies to impose and collect their state sales tax (except for NY and their "Amazon tax").

Hmmm, ok. Here is the easiest way I know that some one who cant even bake a potato can accomplish. Browse the recipes for something that looks appealing to you. Find someone you know who does DIY. Hand them a print out of the recipe and a few $$$. Walla, your done!

I love the euphonic sound of vacuum tubes and have collected my share of cold war era Soviet tubes. The Russian's made some fine tubes back in the day.

I use a calculator I downloaded for my phone. I input what vg/pg I want, nic % I want, the % and base of my Nic liquid, what percentage I want of each flavor (5% is a good starting point, make small batches till you land on a "recipe" you like) and how many ml I'm mixing....it tells exactly how much of each thing to use.

I just finally took the plunge into DIY. Figuring out the amount of nic base, the amount of VG, the amount of PG to add is easy. The tricky part is figuring out the percentage of flavorings to add. When the percentages can vary anywhere from 1 to 20 percent, it is all trial and error unless you can find a recipe that someone else has already figured out.

On my Louisiana tax form there is a box for how much did I spend during the year for online sales. Some online retailers are also starting to take taxes out. I purchased a black powder revolver on line this week and was surprised they applied state tax to the total.

That is because Amazon has a physical presence in NY.

It all depends on how you vape. For someone using protanks and ego's you can go as high as %25- %30 flavor. For RDA's and subtanks I dont go above %15 and usually not over %10 flavors.

Try a simple fruit flavor first. Get it vapable, Then add some sweet cream for say Peaches and cream? You really need a dripper to test flavors with too.

Yeah thats why whenever anyone asks me about it I just steer em to TFA. Im not familiar with alot of their flavors, just the ones I like to make, but theres plenty of lists floating around here with good starting suggestions for percentages. Most of the ones Ive tried so far were good enough I didnt really need to mess with em too much.. However after my experience with both TFA blue raspberry, and boysenberry, take heed at the ones that recommend you use a really low percentage!! Boysenberry is pretty horrible above like 5-6% and any higher than 12% with the blue raspberry and youll end up vaping what smells like grandmas nasty perfume! I had to give up on those two flavors because I just could not get them right at all.. TFAs also got data sheets for their flavorings available too so they seem pretty legit..

Well where I think it will get tricky is I do not do flavors, only tobacco extracts, which I can get no problem but what percentages of those I am unsure on.

Put a measured amount in your pg/vg base shake well and try it? Too weak add more. Get close to the strength you desire add nic then let set for a week and try again. KEEP TRACK of all ingredients added. I put a number on a label and stick in on the bottle and have a little book I put the number on the top of the page and write everything I do to it. Once you get it figured out you can make all you want very cheaply.
