Is it possible to do a parallel coil without one of those coil-jig things?

Andria
Yes, just hold them next to each other and wrap.

ETA: I never got into parallel wraps, the coils always ended up too wide and would scorch the wick in the middle. Perhaps something with a dibby crack would be good, if anyone remembers what that is.

People vape the Claptons for flavor, not to save on juice...
I wonder why flat wire isn't more popular. It was quite the rage when Genesis attys were hot stuff.

I've used a clapton coil, didn't notice a flavor difference,I did notice that it produced a lot of hot air and that it was slower to ramp up because of the added mass.

The problem with adding surface area to a large diameter wire is you are also increasing the amount of wire that only has air contact. you would be better off with a bunch of small wires all in parallel covering the same area of wick.

I made this really fast so it's not pretty but I think demonstrates the idea

I always been a firm believer in the "KISS" theory. What is tried and true and works best for you is what most people will continue to use. That doesnt mean I always live by that advice for if I did, I would still be vaping Ego's. They are tried and true and always work. One of these days before long I want to try some clapton wire just to see if it is in fact a flavor chasers wire, but also I believe it needs to be ran on a proper mod to be able to reap the full benefits from it. Kinda like this smokeless Owl with dual tiger coils in it. The coils I believe would really shine in a dual battery mod where as with a single 18650 you have to hold it on for around 5 seconds to actually get a vape off it.

What does that ohm out to and how well would it perform on a mech?

It was only an example but the math says 4 wraps 4 wire parallel of 30awg around 2.5mm should be around 0.3-0.4 ohms.

Edit: A 3 wire 4 wrap 30awg 2.5mm ID would be close to 0.5 ohms.

Happy Happy, Joy Joy :)

Hold on...
I don't think there are any 2900 mAh 30A batteries. 2100mAh is right about the limit of current chemistry for a stable 30A battery. 2900mAh would be closer to 12A in a 18650 IMR cell.

Is this something very new?

The Velocity RDA with the BF pin showed up yesterday and today I did a dual 5/6 wrap 2.5mm 28 ga kanthal coils on it and wicked it with some Rayon. Gave it a vape and its chucking some major clouds with great flavor. I am vaping some DIY FW Banana Split and I can taste the whip cream in it its so good!
The Velocity RDA is a clone but I like it better than the other one I have for the simple reason that the seals are tighter and the top airflow adjuster doesnt freely move. It came with the standard pin so had to swap it out for the BF pin and that was a PITA. The pin was over torqued and a bear to loosen. The Velocity has a couple things to really like about it. First off its a great flavor RDA. It has a deep juice well to it. There is two post with two holes in each that are big enough that if you wanted to you could build a quad 24 ga coils and still have plenty of room. I highly reccomend it to any mod womper that wants an RDA that can both flavor chase and cloud chase.

I like my Velocity. Usin it right now as a matter of fact. :)
ETA: Pretty much the same coils with maybe an extra wrap .64 ohms

@chopdoc, I just ordered a couple of Velocity RDAs with BF pin. Picked them from Focalecig, but only spent about $10 each, so if they suck, I'm not out too much.

To my electrician-like peeps - successfully replaced the errant breaker ALL BY MYSELF!!!! Gonna get an electrician in to drop wire for a new circuit. Fridge still plugged into a little-used circuit and the rest of the kitchen is functioning properly. Thanks for your input - I'm much calmer now about my situation :) (Tips hat to @Boden, @motordude, and @Robert Cromwell among others....)

It's also a great TC atty, can fit larger spaced coils

Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping

These are supposed to be the new shiznit according to Mooch's tests in the battery forum. Going to grab a couple next payday since I seem to be killing the almighty Samsung 25Rs in no time using a mech at 0.8 ohms (Im on my second one since about noon). I was gonna go with the Samsung 30Qs but the LGs seem to be the winner of the 2 for lower amp use.

I got them, they are charged now so might as well use them.

I been using some NCR 18650B MH12210 Panasonic batteries in my squonker and they are suppose to be 3100 mAh batteries. I just put in a fresh Imren in the squonker and started chain vaping it for a few minutes. Took maybe 12 - 15 good pulls from it over maybe 5 minutes and then slid the cover off and felt the battery and its cool to the touch. According to Mooch's test the temp of them while being used is a huge consideration and while he didnt test the Imren 30A batteries, he did test the 40A batteries and considered them safe for 20A usage. Going with an ohms law calculator, the RDA coil builds read .6 ohms. The batteries are 3.7 volts so that works out to vaping at 22.8 watts and 6.2 amps which is well within the safety range for these batteries. Even running them in the IPV4 with a .4 ohm build at 120 watts, thats only 17.3 amps and even knowing I would never vape in that range, I believe they are safe for the application. 60 watts for one of my normal dual coil build that average never lower than .4 ohms works out to 12.2 amps and I have no problems using these batts in a regulated mod all day long vaping like that.
I am not doing competition cloud chasing and have no intentions of ever doing it. One day I might build a quad coil just because i want to see if I can and how it vapes, still, thats not my normal vaping style. My sweet spot for RDA's seems to be .4 ohms at 60 watts and from the couple hours I spent researching yesterday online for these batteries, they seem to be safe for that.

does this setup make me a modwomper or a cloud chaser? Built for flavor 4 strands of twenty eight Gage nichrome 80/20 juice and loads of flavor.

Those of yall who smoked for many years and now vape, yall ever considered lung capacity? For the 40 years I smoked I always did the MTL style and same with my vaping until last May when I got the subtank mini's and they was natural lung hitters to me. Been vaping everything as lung hitting ever since. With all the times I was in the hospital earlier this year it seemed every time I was given one of those breathing things.
719009_VOLDYNE5000.GIF

The best I ever could do on them was 2500 ml and I considered that was from 40 years of damaging my lungs. The first time i went in the hospital last Nov I was only quit smoking 4 months and the best I could do was around 600 ml while my smart aleck missus could easily do 4000 ml and she never quit smoking. Just am curious if anyone else ponders lung functions now that they no longer smoke.
