I found that one can get in trouble from one shire to the next in Britain as easily as one state to the next in USA. So mixing simple phrases one takes for granted from country to country can get real sticky. Way back (waaaaaaaayyyy back in time) before I was married even the first time, I was driving a couple sisters from Derbyshire over to Liverpool and on the way back, as we were lost in Manchester that night, one of them suggested we go over to a friend's house and "knock 'er up." I almost drove in the ditch. I later discovered she meant to knock on the door and get her up from her bed. Another time, I saw a sheep up the side of a hill in Scotland and commented to the girl I was with at the time that he was a "silly bugger" for hanging onto such a steep slope, not having a clue that was vulgar to her. Ah, the discoveries of life....Wales is a nice place lol
RIP, that's sad to hear but yes if she was called that, it's the only place in UK it could be.I think thats where he said she was from. Its been years ago and he has since retired. Sadly I heard his wife passed away last Saturday.
@Rixsta I will see you up there![]()

Yeah, just about everyone I got introduced to in Derby said that: "Ay up duck." I just assumed it was like "howdy" in Texas or any of hundreds of other "greetings" around the world.ay up me duck
Do ya mean tongue, or something else. Beef tongue is good if it's done right, but stinks to high heaven when it's cooking.I love me some cow face tacos, delicious.![]()
But she loves her cow!!!Just don't ever let her convince you to buy her a cow...
I kept trying to say "Earl Grey" but all they wanted to know was how much coffee I wanted in my cup of cream.
that was cute! You want a Yorkshire tea served by a Yorkshire lass.
I agree!! Mexicans have a dish called Menudo......love the menudo, but gotta pick out the tripe, that's nasty. they say the honeycomb tripe is better, but I don't like any of it.I love you Em, really I do but you ain't coming near me if your eating tripe, I remember having a towel over my nose when I used to give it my dog, that is just pure evil, eeewww
