Thanks for the very informative post, Don. I have been on here about 8 hours now and have placed my order with cignot to begin my journey (510). When I registered here this morning, I knew nothing about ecigs. Now, 8 hours later, I feel like I have learned so much, lol! That is one awesome job you have done there and it was just exactly what I needed and wanted to find. Job well done, and again, thank you so much! Happy vaping!

I don't know what to say exactly, but I know I have to say something...

"Thank You?"

That was the most comprehensive, informative guide to e-cigarettes I've come across by far. I've done hours upon hours upon hours of research prior to reading that guide, and though I wish I would've stumbled upon that first, it was still extremely beneficial.

I am new to vaping, and enjoying it immensely. I now know where to direct a friend when they become interested in vaping (as many of my friends have, from seeing me with my ecig). Thank you. Happy Vaping.

Don, did you see my comment a page or two back?

OK, Garrett, sorry if you felt ignored. I now will give you attention. I looked for and found that comment:
Awesome guide! I just have one request -- could you remove the tags that make all the text black (in the guide)? I use the dark forum theme and it makes it hard to read your stuff. Better, in my opinion, to leave the text color alone so that the forum theme determines what it should be (unless of course you need to put something in blue or red or whatever).
If by "tags," you mean the dotted line under certain key abbreviations (e.g., Kr8, atty, etc.) and which show the meaning of the abbreviation when you point at it: No, I can't. They're a relatively new feature of ECF itself, which many folks are finding very useful.

If you mean the links that fill the opus: No, I won't. They are a critical part of the guide.

If you mean something in the HTML code (whatever that is:oops:), I'm not sure how to (nor can I, now that the thread is closed). My guess is that they are caused by my occassional specification of other text colors.

Sorry you've had problems. FYI: You're the first person to mention this.

It seems to me you knew exactly what to say, BubbleBobble! [Love your screen name, but then look at how silly mine is.;)] All your comments are deeply appreciated!

"I wish I would've stumbled upon that first" is what I was aiming for: An all-in-one-place resource that I wish I had had when I started. Pleased you feel that way about it.

Glad my guide was useful to you, cozmo! Thanks for your thanks!

If the people who voted on the Vapy Awards knew what they were talking about (and, with one possible exception*, I think they did), you have chosen wisely (model and supplier). Not the only good choices, but excellent ones. Hope you are as pleased with the 510 as so many people are.

* I won't comment on that Forum Contributor category.;)

FYI: I enjoy the 510 very much (e.g., vapor production is amazing), but my favorite is the penstyle (especially on a battery mod). It gives me greater throat hit. I mention this merely as an example that there is no one best ecig for everyone.

I just really need to take a moment and thank you for this guide. Unfortunately, I did find ECF until after I got into vaping, and made a few monumental mistakes beforehand. But at least finding this guide and ECF kept me from making the same mistakes, and worse one's :D

I'd say this guide needs to be the very FIRST thing any new member is allowed to read before they get "in depth" with the forums, there's just way too much good info here.

I like the abbreviation helpers, and I know they're a feature of ECF.
I would never ask you to take links out -- I do not deny their helpfulness.
I do, in fact, mean something in the HTML code. Yes, I was referring to your occasional specification of black as the text color, since it is hard to read on a dark background. Unfortunately, setting the text to black forces it to be black, rather than the default text color of the forum theme. I'm not surprised that I'm the first one to mention this -- most people probably aren't aware that an alternate theme is available, or those that are aware of it just don't use it. Either way, I'm sure the dark theme isn't used much.

Thanks for getting back to me :)

Thank you, mskitty, doublewhiskey, and garyd!

I am truly a "newbie" still waiting on my e cig to arrive, love your post. When is the next installment coming, I anxiously await. You provide much needed and broken down information is easy to digest.
I'm not planning a next installment. Rather I've been preparing other guides focused on specific models and/or suppliers (as commissioned by those suppliers). An example is the 510 Guide for NHaler, linked in my signature. Most of the others are appearing on the suppliers' websites.

In the process, I've been gradually evolving an updated version 2 for the WWV Guide. Don't hold your breath; my priorities now are bringing in some needed funds to support my habit (and to buy some groceries occasionally:D).

I read through the guide when i was first deciding what (and if) to order. Thank you! it made all the difference in knowing what was what, was a fantastic introduction to the vocabulary, and had the link to a coupon code that i could use on my very first order. I got a PV that is perfect for me (krd808), without all of the trial and error.

Don greeting from sunny SW Florida. I want to tell you that your article is absolutely fantastic. I found this forum strictly by accident doing some research on the E cigs. I've been a smoker for 55 years and was a NY City Firefighter for 22 of those years. With all the smoke I've inhaled over the years it's a wonder I'm still here. At 70 years old I'd like to, no make that I want to stop smoking. I've tried to quite more times than I can count and have even tried the laser treatment. Ergo, I'm still smoking. I've been on this ECF for the past 2.5 hours absorbing as much info as I can. As I haven't read all the parts of your analysis, I will admit that I'm considerably confused to hone my focus toward a specific product line. The imbedded pix on your part 1 were not exactly what I had in mind. Some of the units reminded me of the one hit tokers from my days back in the 60's. I'm anxiously looking forward to reading the other parts of your well written dialog and hopefully find info about an E cig that sort of looks like a cigarette. I guess instead of using an ID as Dazeoff, I should have used Dazed and Confused. I'll be back to your analysis first thing in the morning. Thanks so much for taking the time to post this useful information.
