He always vapes while others smoke
He acts while other men just joke
He looks at this world and contemplates
And he strikes like DonDaBoomVape

He knows the meaning of success
His needs are more so he writes less
They call him the winner who does not hate
So he strikes like DonDaBoomVape

Any e-cigarette he wants he'll get
He will break some attys without regret
His days of smoking are all gone
His fight goes on and on and on
But he thinks that the fight is not to late
So he writes like DonDaBoomVapeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I have never had a poem written for me! That is special. Thank you, C-kool!

Great work Don, it was the best e-cig primer I've ever read. My question to you is if you know of any primer or article that breaks down the various models of e-cigs based on their original Chinese inventing manufacturer? There are so many knock-offs on the main models like the 901, 801, and 510 models. The reality is that there's only one original inventing manufacturer of these models and knowing that info can certainly go along way toward cutting thru the menagerie (crap) so-to-speak.

What further complicates things (especially for newbies like me) is when the e-cig sellers put their own model numbers in place of the original model number. So how would one know that the 'PVU901a' sold by 'ABD E-cig Seller.com' is really just a knock off of the original DSE901 by '_____ Chinese Manufacturing Company'

Thanks again, and I really hope this makes sense!

What! You're making me work on the evening of the Vapy Awards?;)

Actually some of your question is beyond my dilettante knowledge. And it is that, BTW. To prepare that guide, I needed to learn a little bit about a lot of things, then gussy it up with photos and videos (and the occasional song:D).

I can provide one insight and two leads. The leads:
  1. The VapeAtron E-Cigarette Models guide comes closest to what you're asking for.
  2. Some of my fellow "experts" in the Ask The Experts forum are more knowledgable of such things than I. Why not ask your question there?
The insight: Other models are not necessarily "knock-offs." For example, one of the few PVs, with which I have personal experience is the penstyle. I believe that the DSE801 was the first; it's certainly the best known. But RN4072, BE112, Joye302 (and Boge302), and M201 each have attributes to recommend them and loyal followings. Ask Sun Vaporer about the BE112 and he'll talk your ear off. Hellen A. Handbasket raves about the 302 (either manufacturer). Figurehead praises the M201. Etc. I still haven't settled in on one of them.

Thanks for those words of praise, vaporon!:)

Lots of fantastic info there Don but I do have some trouble with it. Actually where my location is under my user name it should say the middle of nowhere Florida. No high speed anything out here no cable sniffle.:( So dial up stinks of course I`ve never been able to really load the whole thing you have put together.

I still can see most of the links and have gotten some great info there but sure makes my computer act funny. The phone company here is close with the broadband goodies but close isn`t getting here any time soon..

So being out here in the middle of nowhere has some downsides but there are some good sides also. I don`t need clothes.8-o

Yeah, sorry about that! Since, structurally, it is only six posts, it loads as one gigantic webpage. Even takes awhile for my broadband connection to digest it.

I believe that, at some point (hopefully soon), we* will restructure that monster to alleviate that problem ... and to make sections within each Part linkable (which happens to be my biggest frustration).

* 'We': Posting it in the first place was very much a team effort, requiring a lot of time invested by moderators like Sun Vaporer and lordmage ... and normal posting restrictions (e.g., max photos per post) lifted by Smokey Joe. And so will the restructing require the involvement and support of others.

...It feels sooo special to be speaking to vapin royalty.
Royalty, shmoyalty! I'm just a commoner who has experienced his 15 minutes of fame, before falling back again into obsurity.

I have to hand it to you, buddy... it's not often I meet someone that amuses me as much as I amuse myself...

And yes, you are definitely Vaping Royalty! Bow to the King and his mighty Boomstick, heathens! Your treatise on vaping doth rawketh, and shall be heretoforth known as... the Vaprinomicon! Yah, I like it!

Your thread of The Wonderful World of Vaping kept me reading for hours. Once I started I could not stop. The information given was, without a doubt, very intellegent and easy to read. The humor written into it kept me laughing all the way through. Thank you very much for the painstaking hours it must have taken for everyone involved (the author and the administrators) to produce such a wonderful work.

I greatly enjoyed it and look forward to applying the great techniques and advice I found here so far. And I am sure to be back to follow further threads.

Thank you all! :thumb:

Hi Don,

I have been lurking on the ecf forum during the holidays after buying a couple of disposables for myself and my wife. I hate that I had to spend too much for really crappy e-cigs that didn't last very long, but at least we were able to determine that this was something we could get used to (instead of analogs) quite well.

I, like you, have been smoking regular cigs for about 40 years and also, like you, am a (lately inactive) writer. I have a number of tech writing projects out there with my real name on them as well as some contract feature articles in some international publications. Nothing significant, but I also spent a few years reporting, then editing for newspapers.

I have to say I am singularly impressed with the quality of your writing (not just THE GUIDE, but your other posts as well.) I also really like the fact that MOST of the vaper/posters here know the difference between you/your/you're and their/there/they're and write understandable prose.

After reading your guide (in one sitting) last night, I pulled the trigger on enough gear from puresmoker.com to get my wife and myself rolling with some KR808s and supplies. They were the only guys with decent prices (that I found) who are actually in the continental US and had everything I was looking for in one place. I really like the whole cartomizer idea, but I may end up getting some 510s to try too.

Anyway, thank you for this succinct and polished compendium of information about something I expect to be a long-time habit.

Stop it! Stop it! I was enjoying a swelled head for awhile, but now it is so big it hurts. I've said it to you before, Karl, but what the hay: I like your brand of heresy (whatever Vaprinomicon means:confused:).

Just wanted to say thanks for the great summary. It was *really* helpful sorting thru the what's what of vaping!

Is there a section on the 901 or did I miss it?
"Summary?" Now that's a first. 'Wordy', 'long-winded', 'verbose', 'loquacious' – these are terms I'm used to hearing about my doctoral dissertation*, but not a term suggesting brevity.
*[Sadly no PhD has been awarded.:(]
The DSE901 is the first bullet point in the Minis portion of Part 4.

Congratulations, Dr. DonDaBoomVape, you have just been awarded a PhD from the University of Life. Which is the only one that really counts anyway...
;)

I read through the first parts of your guide as a newbie, and thanks much, since it saved me from asking many dumb questions. Now that I've actually had a chance to do some vaping, and a few cart mods and try some juices... I decided to go back and read the whole thing.

And thanks again. You and your links/videos have just saved me from asking many more dumb questions.

Great job.

Perhaps you need a viewing of "Army of Darkness" to understand the reference.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I think your work could be described as "soulful" and "witty" which would necessitate some amount of brevity, would it not? ;)

In less obscure terms, TWWOV is in fact a great summary of the amassed knowledge of ECF. Spending a few hours pouring over the "Vapornomicon" (substituting "vapor" for "necro" certainly seems appropriate in this context) is a tremendous time saver versus the alternative of spending multiple weeks or months digging through flame wars, off-topic discussions, conspiracy theories, and reviewer biases just to find a trustworthy review.

Thank you all: Van Dam, stillcrazy, Timebender, katkin, Nunja Business, Thulium ... and those I have previously acknowledged (plus anyone I've missed)!

I have received more recognition and praise for my contributions to ECF than for anything I have ever accomplished in my life!* Can you imagine what that feels like? [That was rhetorical, but I'll answer it anyway: It feels good.]
* [With the exception of my good sense in proposing to my wife of 32+ years. She recognizes and praises me every day.]
Thulium, thanks for cluing me in on the Vaprinomicon reference/paraphrase! [Uh, when one word is altered slightly, is that a parphrase or a paraword?] BTW, Army of Darkness does not sound like my kind of flick.

FYI: I am not being hard on myself. Rather, I am attempting to be modest and gracious. Would you prefer that I say: "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tell me something I don't know." BTW, that is not my attitude. If you are interested, it is: I am very proud of the WWV (and my other posts here). It is my personal best ... and I am glad I am being recognized for it.

I didn't think it sounded like your type of flick either, but with lines like "This is my BOOMstick!", you might find some value. I didn't think I'd like it either, but its definitely worth giving a try as long as you don't take it any more serious than the movie takes itself (which is to say, not at all.)
