The Wrong People Seem To Be Making The Decisions | Ecig Advanced News

It seems the individuals making decisions on smoking policy aren’t generally anyone with more than indirect experience with smoking. Maybe they were involved in smoking research or knew family that struggled with smoking addiction, but what I’m getting at is that the majority of individuals involved in smoking policy — anti-smoking policy that is — aren’t smokers or ex-smokers.

The problem with this is that non-smokers tend to over simplify smoking and the experience of smokers. To them, all smokers are the unfortunate victims of subversive tobacco marketing and nearly irresistible addiction. It’s possible that this writer could be the culprit of oversimplification now too. The point is that they don’t really know the experience of a smoker despite acting like the experts on how to treat them and best control their market.

That's an excellent point of view, one that can help calm my anger a little. BUT, I disagree with that quote. I believe they know full well about the struggle to quit or stay quit, which is why it was so demonized for excessive taxes. They had smokers by the balls, & laughed all the way to the bank... until ECigs appeared on the scene. Now WE got them by the balls and they are fighting mad. Tsk tsk.

When the head of the FDA, appointed by Obama, is a former lobbyist for the Big Pharmaceutical industry, is it possible to expect an intelligent and unbiased approach to vaping? Big Pharm, who wants vaping eliminated, owns the FDA, with the President's blessing.
Oh stop being so pessimistic! The FDA was really nice at the listening sessions. I'm sure they listen really well! (Obvious Sarcasm!)
How true you are. There is a big revolving door for these jobs back and forth. Though Zeller has made some somewhat promising comments in regard to e-cigs, I don't believe any of it!

Neither do I. Cynic that I am, my take is the feds throw these almost-objective statements in to try to quiet us down or keep us off-balance. Based on his background and the overwhelming negativity/deliberate lies/misleading analyses he has expressed, I no longer believe a word he says.

Yup, It is kind of like the Yankees and Boston playing for the American League Pennant and having MLB assign ex-Yankee players as the umpires.
