Being 19 and a vaper feels odd. Everywhere I look I see other fellow vapers who are 25+. I used to be a smoker of 8 years compared to everybody else's 10+ years of smoking. Some may call this shame, I call it pride. The reason I say pride is due to the fact I saved myself all those potential smoking years of life by switching to vaping.

I'm glad you switched so young. Compared to my 16 years of smoking a pack a day, you've saved yourself years of more life. My grandmother died late October 2013, of lung cancer which spread to her brain. She quite a decade before the lung cancer, but she smoked for decades upon decades before that. Her death is what drove me to vaping.

My youngest sister recently switched to vaping as well. She is 17. Despite her young age, my mother bought her a vape anyway. She was getting cigs from her friends at school and my mother tried everything she could to stop it short of homeschooling her and locking her up like a prisoner. According to my mother, this harm reduction move saved my sisters life.

Thank y'all for being so supportive! When I first quit, I was already hacking up nasty stuff from my lungs and getting out of breath just from climbing my stairs. Now I can climb them with no problem! What is driving me crazy is all these bans that are going into place attempting to tax and/or ban them. I am doing my part by calling any town mayor or state senator who decides to limit or ban e cigs in any shape or fashion.

I honestly wish total strangers didn't shame you if you use them in public.

Hey, as I said earlier, I'm very happy for you. Please do all of us on the other side of 20 a huge favor though, and don't be encouraging any of your young non-smoking buddies to pick these up. People will make their own decisions of course, but the ANTZ would just love that @@. Not that I think you'd do that, but...

I thought I was bad having my first smoke at about 13 years old. I assume it became a habit by the time I was 15 or 16 and now at 52 years old I am smoke free for nearly 6 months now. I was at least a 2 pack a day smoker and had no problem quitting completely after finding my vaping alternative. Congrats and I hope you stick with it. You will be years ahead of many of us.

Why do you suggest that we have our friends not switch to Vaping?

When I was young I wish that vaping was available then, but it wasn't.

There are some humans who enjoying inhaling and such. It's been around for eons and it will be 'till our Sun burns out.

Inhaling whether it's tobacco, ........., corn silk, etc. It's just human nature (in some humans that is) to enjoy smoking regardless of the source of smoke or vapor.

I'm happy for you. I smoked for 13-14 years and I'm only 27. I know what it did to me. I also had asthma at a young age. Found out about it at about the same time I started smoking. I can tell a difference already but there's definitely damage done though. I was just thinking the other day how amazing vaping is and how many lives it saves. Not to mention it's so cool when you actually think about FLAVORED vapor. It really is an amazing thing and I've been smoke free since Oct 12th 2013.

I smoked for about 8 years (albeit quite heavily, looking back) before I switched. I bought a cig-a-like as a gag because I told my girlfriend I would try to quit (although I had very little intention of actually doing it; I enjoyed smoking). Well, the rest is history!

I think what you have done is wonderful! I so wish I had been that smart at age 19. 30 years of smoking before I decided to throw them away. I often wonder if it's too late but I cannot worry about that right now. I'm just going to move forward knowing that I did QUIT. You did a good thing! So very proud of you! Keep on vaping :vapor:
