Hey guys. Got my zap on monday.. I think the wick isnt wicking juice properly.. The two ends of the wick look like they are closed in.. Like the person who cut them used not so sharp scissors and pinched the ends.. Does this matter? Or should i try to unpinch the ends so juice can flow thru the center of the wick?

It depends on the juice you're using and whether the wick/coil are broken in yet. But generally, I'd say to insert a paperclip or syringe into the wick to open it up and see if it tastes better for you. If you find it's over wicking, you can just pinch the top of the wick a bit.

3rd day today so i dont think its broken in yet.. 50/50 juice.. Ill try putting a neddle thru.. Once the wick is broken in should it really just suck up pretty well? If i grab my pro and zap and just cape its dry.. I have to hold it and tilt it first...

Yup, tilting is normal with these, even after they're broken in. The angle isn't as large later on though. So at first you hold it at 3 o'clock, then later it's OK at 4 or 5 o'clock.

Im assuming your using 400 mesh? Personally i always use 325 mesh because i vape thick juices, the wicks come pre-clamed at the ends, which is so thinner juices will not over wick, if you have a open wick, thinner juices will over wick, but thicker juices will flow more evenly. for 50% or higher juices, id say open up the hole through the middle of the wick a bit to allow more juice flow, the more you experiment with different styles of wick shapes, you will find what works best for your personal tastes.

I seem to have gotten used to vaping at 3:00 pretty quick, I literally haven't had a dry hit yet!

As to vaping these at 11-12 watts, does that decrease coil life at all? I never vaped in that watt range before, but I have to agree with whoever said it before that is a really sweet spot, and the vapor has more of the warmth I'm looking for. So I'm probably going to do it anyway lol. Was just curious if this means ill be re-coiling more often...

The stock coil is reading 2.5, @ 5ish volts the vapor production is insane, and I'm all about the vapor. I dig the clouds more than throat hit, flavor, heat, nic level! Lol huge clouds of vapor just make me happy;)

I seriously doubt you will be running into any problems. I only vape at around 10-11 watts and I have had normal atomizers last months and I even have a HH357 that has lasted me a year at those wattages. As long as you take care of your stuff and keep it wet, you should not have any problems.
I am a little new to Genesis RBA's but the consensus seems to be that a good coil should run you a couple months.

I vape around 10 watts. I use 100% VG and have found that I must keep my wick at the 6 oclock position and tip the Provari slightly for proper wicking or it will dry hit..
Now to get that firing button positioned properly is another story.. On my mini it sits at 10 oclock when the wick is at the 6 oclock position... Not good, Im going to have to try Skyways suggestion using an O-ring to get it in the right spot...
The ZAP is cool and looks right on the Provari, but I would really love a drip only RBA... No wicking problems and a much needed weight reduction.
ZAPs make your Provari really heavy and bulky for daily carry.... Its a love/hate relationship...

For months I've been using my ZAP uncentered, and just dealing with it. Yesterday I tried the o-ring thing (actually needed 2) and I am now officially in heaven! I dug into my o-ring stash and found 2 that were labeled "outer replacement o-ring for 5ml DCT", dropped them into the drip well on my ProVari, and screwed my ZAP back on.

see i think the exact opposite. my wicks are solid with no hole, as tightly packed as i can to get it in the hole. i use 400 for everything even some of my homebrewed 100% vg.... holes in the middle of a wick are bad! causes a volcano effect of juice which will a: boil juice in the hole causing nasty discolored bad tasting juice and b:eek:verwicking(more like over draining).

another thing these thin large center hole wicks cause is that you are not wicking with the wick, you are allowing drainage when tipping to 3'oclock. this is bad cause too much juice is as bad as a dry wick.

for capillary action to truly happen and be most efficient you want the densest possible wick you can get. my wicks never get dry and are never too wet...they wick perfectly for 3 or more months.

sorry for sounding critical but this is my experience with zen products since my first one in march.....and my zap since june. my zap has seen over 1500 ml of juice easily and it took me forever to get it right where it needed to be, when all it took was doing my wicks a little differently.

This weekend will be my final days with the ZAP. If I don't love her by Sunday she's going on the classifieds. I will however try the un-pinching the wick thing tonight. Because no matter what I do, the vapor and flavor just isn't there for me. I'm a avid supporter of things that work right outta the box. Guess I never should've purchased an RBA to start with. :p

Of the three that I own the ZAP was the only one to come completely assembled out of the box ... are you running it at 4.2v? Does it taste burnt when you take it to 4.2v. Mine did but I followed the advice in the accompanying vid and now have a tuned atty. It is the best of my three that you see in my signature down below.

I want to try this but... when I do something as simple as pinch the ends of my wicks my atty tastes burnt. I'm assuming it's because there is not enough juice going up. Theoretically wouldn't a solid wick not allow the juice to wick for me in a similar fashion? I run my provaris at 4.2v, resistance at 1.7 ohms. Any suggestions? Do I need to increase the resistance in my coil wraps?
