I beg to differ.................rather I would say that they lack the common sense required rather than say they are/were stupid.

Most people assume this. Not so.
People play dumb to avoid liability.
They know better.
Don't be dumb bough to fall for that act.

We all know that old lady knew that cup of coffe was hot.
She ordered it. It was not forced on her, or given by mistake.

She did not order iced tea.

She spilled it. An accident. Sux she was injured but it wasn't intentional.
Society today fears responsibity, so we play stupid and try to blame others.

Reality check:
Do you really believe the lady had no clue hot coffee would burn?

My point. Common sense tells me to be extra careful when handling hot beverages. Do mistakes get made, absolutely. Do people "play stupid" out of greed to go after a large corporation to extract money after the fact because they see an opportunity, you bet.

Oh emus. I wasn't trying to make anyone sorry. I was just trying to make people aware of the leverage some companies have to demonize a perfectly justified lawsuit. Especially, when the victim has to agree to be silent to get anything for the time, pain and effort put into obtaining deserved restitution. Which, all to often, results in the victim being made out to be the bad guy by the company that threatened to bleed them dry through legal procedures if they don't settle for a pay-off to shut up.

Concur.

I saw the OJ trial and personally witnessed another trial w/ very suspicious rulings. I have no doubt corruption thrives within USA legal system.

While true, none of the companies in the context of the OP are large enough to influence any courts.
Most shops are mom and pop sized.

My advice:
Put a big sign up that says "use at own risk".

Then let the thinning of the herd commence.

Ignorance of reality is no excuse.

Company does not have to be large or rich in a small town. Choose lawyer that goes to same country club as judge and your good.

Pick an out of town lawyer and you may be out of luck.

Per sue of happiness...

Having second thoughts or common sense has no place in the oneupmanship of peer groups barely past puberty.

To push the gun analogy a bit - would you really sell and even load a gun for a customer which give you the real or acted impression of standing a fair chance of pointing the business end of said gun towards himself ?

So let's play worst-case scenario: Mod goes poof, victim now has a hand like a withered shrub and a face like he's trick-or-treating 365 days a year...

Reconstructive/plastic surgery can work wonders - but not for free. Medical bills are piling up at an alarming rate. Your medical insurer ( if you have one ) likes your premium payments but does not like fessing up. Eats into the CEO's bonus, can't have that.

As these big insurers have their own legal department or some huge law firm on retainer it's no financial skin off their back when they go looking for someone else to blame and share the financial burden: 'Use at your own risk' , signed waiver , never mind that, they'll challenge it in court anyway.

So, the owner of a mom 'n pop B&M finds him/herself at the receiving end of a lawsuit. Just fending it off successfully will cost you to the point of ruin. Should it transpire that you were as clueless while wrapping the coil as the fool actually vaping it you'd be looking at punitive damages on top of the bills from the hospitals and docs...

Even if the victim had enough of a bone in his back to blame only himself, the lawyers involved won't let him say that- ever. Cuz it's going to sink their lawsuit.

But there's hope: ANTZs and politicos with thei own agenda will look concerned and troll you through about every TV-station thats willing to shock their audience with your meatloaf mug. Yeah, they even pay you a pittance or two plus travel epxenses and completely instrumentalize the victom for theor own ends....don't believe even for a second that they're going to give a **** about you personally.
For them, the victim is just some dumba** kid that comes in handy to push some issues....

Tendency's been like that for quite a while : It works ou - take the credit, bask in the glory. It goues wrong - find some scapegoat...

So now every shop owner should play mommy to every tool that wants the look cool and play dumb?
No nanny state for me, thanks.
I'm 45.
I grew up knowing I was responsible for my own actions.
I'm still here, face intact.

Sorry, I feel no remorse for anyone that jumps headfirst into danger just to follow a trend or to look cool.

You are the only one responsible for your actions.
It's pretty cut and dry.

Alas, common sense isn't common anymore.

Here's a thought: if someone walks into a mom and pop store and walks out with a .2 ohm RDA on a MM, no questions asked and gets hurt due to the battery overheating, is this the equivalent of a mass marketed Protank 2 with a faulty coil that shorts out and injures someone?

YES!!!! Buyer beware and be educated!!!!!!!! Check your equipment. 100% common sense.

I'm only 25 but I agree, I have knowingly done a lot of dangerous and stupid s*** in my day....but when I got hurt or in trouble I knew and accepted that it was my own fault.nobody else made me do it, but sadly not everyone does which screws things up for the rest of us

a bad day at the track is better than a day of not running at all

While I am normally quite the advocate for natural selection, I see it here as having undesirable consequences. Let us not forget, the USA has become quite the "nanny state"... Few places can it be said to be more true, than in CA. I see the potential for the less than educated and less than inquisitive could be expected to do stupid things in large enough numbers, that laws and bans could be justified to the uninvolved and uneducated masses that form the bulk of the voting base. Firearm ownership is a constitutionally protected right, and look how restricted it has become, through enough fear/uncertainty/doubt. What could they do to vaping, if they start portraying our power supplies as being essentially pipebombs?

No RBA comes with a .2 ohm coil new.
Most are not built or sporting a 1.0 or higher resistance coil.
You have to ask for it to be built sub ohm.
This places responsibility squarely on the buyer.

.2 or 1.0

Seems like these Numbers are Arbitrary and Don't Hold Much Meaning to someone who Doesn't Understand the Relationship of Ohms, Volts or Amps.

So you believe that a B&M holds no Responsibility when a Wanna Be Cloud Chaser walks thru their door and says...

"Make me a .2 Ohm Coil. Chop Chop."

In my area, with all the kids looking to blow massive clouds, almost everyone just goes to the local vape shops gets a mod and battery (without knowing anything about batteries) has the shop wrap the coils for them and then off they go. They know nothing about the dangers of their builds. The shop always wraps dual coil 3 wraps of 28 (which is like .3-.5ohms usually right?) and these kids just vape till basically the batteries are so low it doesnt actually produce vapor. This is a rant, i apologize, but it just bugs me. Is anyone else experiencing this "fad" in their area

I should also add, as a personal experiment, i went into this same B&M with my mod equipped in 18350 mode. Had them wrap it and... he built the same dual 3 wrap coils (.4 when i tested it back home), and he didnt mention anything about battery safety or limits. He probably doesnt even know!

Then we will see in the media how dangerous ecigs explode in kid's faces. It appears the shop is only concerned with profits. Much like a party store selling an intoxicated juvenile more liquor.

Correct.
Step into a boxing gym and ask for an uppercut, it's your fault if you get knocked on yer .....

Walk into a vape shop and specifically ask for a .2 ohm coil, it's on you if you overload your battery.
Sorry it's crystal clear.
You asked for it.

Maybe after losing a few teeth kids will slow their roll and use their heads.
I'm saying kids because adults smart enough to survive into maturity don't usually jump headfirst into dangerous hobbies without educating themselves first.
That's how they made it to adult hood.

I'm all for thinking the herd, and stopping this trend before they breed.
Free .2 ohm builds for everyone!!!

( sarcasm above)

Look at the world we are in. We are so afraid of guns, that we are suspending kids from school with graham crackers chewed into the shape of a gun. If they even make their own fingers into the shape of a gun, they can face punitive repercussions. In San Francisco, they tried to make happy meals illegal, because people couldn't be trusted to make intelligent decisions re: feeding their children. Our freedoms are ever shrinking, because it is not financially lucrative to those that we allow to make decisions on our behalf, via their buying and paying for our politicians. Look at the scare tactics that have already been used to attempt to ban ecigs. Do anyone REALLY believe that we live in a society that follows a doctrine of personal responsibility, and can be trusted to not abuse any opportunity to nanny us out of choices that will be financially beneficial to their campaign contributors?
