As the thread title says, I was taught in school, that each cigarette kills you by 2 minutes each one. By avoiding cigarettes, how many days, minutes, hours, have you "gained". I don't mean for it to be a morbid thread, just hoo-rahing the benefits of being analog free. I guess an easier way to put it, is how long have you been off the analogs now? I have saved 70 hours of my life thanks to e-cigs, at least according to my banner, how about you?

I kind of ballparked it since I've managed to forget when exactly I stopped (lost the banner), but:
July 30ish, 25/day...carry the one....times pi......mmmmmm pie.

2 days 2 hours....annnd by now I'd add on 2 more minutes.

Ergh, those damn triples keep coming up.

Lol, you need to buy a lottery ticket I suspect :p. It's a sign!

Based on a rough calculation of 18,300-ish ciggies not smoked, x 2 minutes, /60 minutes, / 24 hours, I have gained 28 extra days!!! I just had my 2 year quit anniversary in August, so I'm roughly guessing that at a little over a ppd former smoker is gaining 14 days per year. :)

Sadly, the 28 days I have gained are on the back end of life when I will probably be wheel chair bound, drooling, and petting imaginary kittens. Lol

i always had a problem with it, 2min each there is no possible way to quantify that, people all die at different rates and no one keeps track of your analogs (guesstimate at best) plus we've seen 40 somthings with lung and heart probs. and some old coot at 2-pak a day with a 5th of booze by noon pass his 90th bday. the time you loose is the time your smoking and not being productive(for your secret overlords of course).

i think that "losing 2 minutes" statistic is BS. but regardless its great to be off the analogs

Of course it's BS, but they need a starting point for their anti-smoking teachings at schools, and I suppose that was a pretty rough estimate to start from. Either way, I hope this thread kinda makes maybe some smokers who lurk forums, think about it and perhaps join us in the vaping world.

I put 486 hours at a pack a day, but sometimes I smoked more, I never was exact, as in 20 a day, no more, no less. When I ran out of a pack i'd open a new one, simple as that so this is really just a guestimate as I would usually probably smoke a bit over a pack, but I just used a pack since it was a nice even number.

Well since my smoking increased exponentially over the years I can't make a guesstimate about how much time i've lost, but

Duration calculation results

From and including: Saturday, April 21, 2012
To and including: Thursday, October 11, 2012

It is 174 days from the start date to the end date, end date included

174 days times 30 cigarettes a day = 5220 cigarettes times 2 minutes each = 10440 minutes = 174 hours = 7 days, 6 hours

So I've gained a little better than a week, give or take.
