Alright so I wanna buy the kayfun 4, but I have a few questions.

1 - Do I really need to take it apart and clean it? I've heard that it's good practice to clean everything when you first receive it to remove machine oils and other residues... but when I cleaned my Halo Triton tank and Aspire K1 they seemed to stop functioning properly. Are there parts I should avoid cleaning to avoir destroying the atty?

2 - Are clones worth it? I think I'm gonna go for the original to make sure, but I wouldn't mind saving money.

3 - What kind of battery/mod should I buy to use with my kayfun? I'm always gonna use single-coil builds above 1,0 ohm. Is purchasing the Istick 50w an overkill?
I currently have and Aspire CF VV 1600 mAh and I'm not sure if I could use that.

Thanks for your help.

Here's my two cents:

1- I have a Tobeco clone that I did not clean prior to use, but I have to say that it did look squeaky clean and it didn't smell like oil either. No metal shavings, no other crap. However, if you watch the PBusardo China trip videos, you might want to sterilize every single atty that you buy... Your call. I don't think you can damage it if you take out the o-rings and treat everything carefully.

2 - Again, my is a Tobeco. It leaks like crazy. Or it leaks a little, depending on how careful I am, but nevertheless, it always leaks. I have an authentic o-ring kit on the way and I'll replace them all, but I have to say I'm disappointed by what is supposed to be the best clone out there. A K4 is a sophisticated atty with 41 parts. Difficult to clone and QC, so if money is not an object, go for the authentic. And you support R&D this way too.

3 - the istick 50w is awesome. Even if you don't need the W power, the battery life on this thing is phenomenal. USB chargers are all over everybody's house these days, just plug it in, charge it and vape for days.

HTH.

1. You really should clean any atty before using it, even authentics. You can leave the o rings on :)

2. I have a Tobeco that's perfect, but YMMV. There are other good clones, too: EHPro, Infinite and HCigar. Most authentic k 4s are excellent.

3. We are suddenly seeing a lot of failures on the new isticks :( I have 3, but in light of this, I'm not currently recommending them. You can get a Sigelei 50W for a few dollars more, and at this time I think its a better mod.

You didn't say your budget, so I would recommend a real Kayfun 4 and ProVari from ProVape--

Kayfun V4 P3 connector

Cheap junk just ends in frustration and being more expensive in the long run...

You do have a point. I've heard the ProVari is the Cadillac of vaping so maybe I should get that instead.

Do you recommend the classic or the ProVari 3?

Also, are the battery upgrades worth it?

Much more reliable than Cadillacs. More like the Honda of e-cigs.

Depends on the power you think you need. There are legions of ProVari owners who get a more than adequate vape from a Kayfun on a 2.5. The new Classic looks very tempting, but if you need a little more power, then P3.

By battery upgrades, you mean the extra extension ring for the Classic?

I would get the 18490s. Higher amp rating, especially the new AW 1200mah ones. Maybe 18650s for longer life between charges, though they do make the Provari kind of long. I'll go look at the chargers.

18350s are very compact, but you will be more limited due to the lower amp rating, and you'll have to change them a lot more often.

Can't wait to try it out. :)

I'm on provape.com right now and I'm not sure which batteries and charger I should get. Are their chargers compatible with all batteries?

The ProVape charger is compatible with all the batteries a ProVari can use. I have 2 and they work great. If you get the extra extension ring, you can use 18350 to 18650 batteries. I use all 3 sizes depending on the situation. my favorites are the 18350s, though, for the compact size...

If I'm telling you things you already know, ignore me. You want to store your batteries in the plastic cases. And if you take batteries with you, keep them in the cases. Never put loose batteries in your purse or pocket. If they contact any metal, they can short and go into thermal runaway. Its a very dangerous situation that can cause serious injury to you and others.
