My first REO was a gold REO black door. Since then I have sent it back to have it milled. I also have an all white Grand. I'm thinking of stripping the gold one down to raw aluminum. Question is, of I do this, should I go with a chemical strip or just sand it down? Is this even a good idea?

patiently waiting....as I am interested in the answers as well. And here is a concern of mine. On some areas, tolerance doesn't matter that much like the overall length, width and thickness after the paint is gone. But how about close tolerance areas like the groove where the door slides on. I am assuming it's gonna rattle now or more if yours already does.

If you go chemical route be careful around the 510 connector and the catch cup, both from the top and the inside. I don't think there is any difference between my raw grand and my black wrinkle, if you sand be very careful with the door as looks like the tabs that slide would be very easily shaved down.
