Stripping a Reo?

Get your mind out of the gutter, I mean stripping the paint off a Reo My Mini did not like being dropped on concrete, or being carried in the same pocket with a knife, so it's pretty worn looking.

So a crazy thought crossed my mind -- what would happen if I were to completely strip the paint off and polish it?

So the question is -- would it work if I just took off all the plastic parts and let it swim in acetone over night? Or do I have to go crazy on it with sand paper?

not sure about the chemical route, but when I need to stipe parts for the jeep I've found these on a drill work pretty good and they make them in medium and fine as well.

I sanded some paint off the inside (for auto fuse) and it was pretty easy. Was thinking it wouldn't take long to sand the whole thing. Chem paint remover sounds messy and smelly and then there is the 510 gasket to worry about?

I sanded 99% of my Mini 2.1 before I thought about using GoofOff.

At least it helped get the corners, but now I'm refinishing the interior.

I'm doing a super lazy job of sanding by hand. I have one side and almost all the outside edges down to raw aluminum. I think next week I'll have it all done. It's just really hard to take the bottle and battery out in order to sand it.

that's why I use them for the ability to get into cracks and corners. They work much better than the wheels that are like little pieces of sandpaper or wire brushes. I use them to strip paint and rust off of steel so As Face Meat points out you might want to start with a fine grit and work up if needed.

Why don't you just ask Robert? I"m sure he can tell you what to do, based on the kind of paint that was placed on your reo.
