So I know that everyone here loves their Reo mods. And frankly, I can totally understand why! After much research, I think I'm going to take the plunge as well, but had a few questions. I've read through the FAQ, but still can't quite pull the trigger...

I'm thinking of getting an LP Grand. Haven't decided on the finish yet. What atty should I get? It seems everyone is talking about the RM2 being a great starter atty, and I like the single coil setup. My other mods are a VaporShark rDNA-40 with a kayfun and a second VaporShark rDNA-40 with an Erlkonigin. Will the RM2 produce the same quality of vapor / flavor as these? I generally either run nickel coils, but when I run Kanthal, it's usually at around 1.2 ohms.

How leaky are these units? One of the major draws to a Reo was something that I can really beat up on and use in rough environments. This usually means it will be in my pocket getting jiggled and bumped as I walk around and work. Do different attys perform differently from a leaking perspective?

I'd prefer something low profile for an atty. I'm assuming I could put a shorter drip tip on the RM2, but how secure is it? I find I usually tend to be rough on the 510 connection if the atty sticks up past the top of the mod too much when carrying in my pocket.

Sorry if these questions were covered elsewhere!

Thanks for any help!

Well HI Elyptic and welcome!

This is the first time i got to greet a newcomer ahead of everyone else...i think i rate a stcker or a piece of candy or something...

Some one/s will be along shortly with really great info on everything Reo,

I've been using the Reos..grands, mini,s and woodvils for a few years now and will never use anything else.

The size will depend on the amount of vaping you do in a day. The Reo grand holds 6ml. of juice and the mini's hold 3 ml.

The only time a Reo leaks is when a person over-zealously squonks and the juice could escape out the airhole or overflow the catchcup. If you're used to making your own coil/wick setups, all the RM's from Rob are very good. I only use the RM2'a because I like more flavor and MTL hits as apposed to lotsa clouds as in sub-ohming. It's all based on a persons preference.

But any style of either the Reo or the attie should work for you...maybe use short drip tips or delrins, they won't break when dropped...and the metal Reos CERTAINLY won't!

You'll have fun experimenting to discover your own personal vaping style!

Also, there's a kazillion " sticky" threads with a world of info,,,,,but please just post here with any questions, every one is delighted to help!

Hey, welcome to Reoville. They are tough and I keep them my pocket all the time. Yes different RBA will perform differently and some tend to leak more than others. General rule, larger the air hole more likely to get seeping from condensation inside the RBA. As OB mentioned typically not a big problem if you make sure not to over saturated the RBA. To really keep it from leaking just take a few hits before pocketing instead of soaking the coil and then dropping it your pocket.

A LP is the way to go, it give you plenty of options. The grand is a great size and almost everybody says it's smaller than I imagined. The RM2 has a great flavor profile, a big ceramic deck with nicely spaced posts, it will be a great vape.

What is you typical wattage at 1.2 ohms?

Hey! Reos are definately durable. Im a pipefitter(construction job) and my reo is always in my pocket at work. Its been abused to no end. Hit with a pipe wrench, banging around in my pocket while i crawl through ceilings, its even dropped it off a ladder onto concrete. Not a better work mod to be found.

And the only time my reo has leaked, its been my fault.(Sometimes i get a littke squonk happy)

They're very durable, I actually dropped mine in a parking lot 15 minutes ago
I don't have an answer for the RM2, I've never used it. In regards to leaking, only time I ever leaked with my atty is right after I squonk. If I don't vape what I squonk a tiny amount leaks, but never had leaking anywhere else in the Reo. I always pocket mine unless I intend to use it when walking.

Looking forward to having you in Reoville, others will help more with the RM2 questions than me though.

Welcome, Elyptic.

The RM2 will outperform both of the RTA's you mention (I and a fair few others know this from personal experience) - it's dripping without the actual dripping, which will get you the cleanest, richest vape possible.

As mentioned, the reo is nigh indestructible and should anything go wrong, most every part is replaceable, either by yourself or by Rob himself. You're not going to get a better supported mod anywhere. Reos are often the preferred choice of people in high risk of abuse jobs and there are many, many stories of dropping them on concrete or from height with nary a problem for either the mod or the atty.

Leaking can happen - not gonna lie to you - but you have to work at it really hard with the RM2. Oversquonking and/or laying it down with saturated wicks are the biggest culprits. Leaking in the general course of vaping, however, is not a factor (and will happen far less than with a kayfun).

I was there for sure. I avoided them for a solid year if not longer. But once I mentally got over the hesitation, I haven't looked back. I sold all tubes and regulated mods except one. I've ventured to multiple REOs, PEKOs and waiting for a Tmod. Buy a used one to give it a try and you don't regret it. IMHO [emoji106]

As to the REO's durability.....I'm a logger. My Grand lives in my shirt pocket except when its being dropped, crushed against my chest, engulfed in dust, drenched in hydraulic oil.....need I go on?
Stop torturing yourself and make your way to the REO site. No, no, stop that negative crap and just go to the REO site! Right now!
Now make out the order for the REO of your choice. Just do it, ok?
There...now its just a matter of waiting for the mailman and kicking yourself for every day you put off becoming a REOnaut.
You're in good company--we've all been there. Looking forward to welcoming you aboard.:)

If you want low profile atties, the RM3 and Igo-bf on the Reo site are the shortest. If you get one of these, or the RM2, you may or may not have to drill out the air hole slightly to tune it in to your preference, these ones don't come with AFC. Leaking is not a problem. The Reo is a great choice for a harsh environment. The new 510's that are now fitted are stainless and adjustable, so you can crank the atty down firm and with no gap to the mod, making it fairly bullet-proof. The vape quality is great, when you get it dialled in you will appreciate it.

Just a thought, if you want something tiny the Reo Mini 2.1 is about the same size as a Cloupor mini 30 or istick 20/30. It will do about half the distance in juice and battery charge compared to a Grand, but is lighter and smaller in the pocket.

I just bought my first Reo in the beginning of March, and I too was looking for a kayfun type flavor and draw. Yes I love my reo/rm2 better than my kayfuns. The rm2 is GOOD. I bought my second last week :) I'm looking forward to spending my vape budget maybe on some nice shoes for summer lol.

The kayfun got me off the stinkies so I will always have a soft spot for it, never have I ever found a tank/dripper that gave me what a kayfun did, until now. That's why I switched to a reo/rm2 totally and put the kayfuns away. I have more time as well, I can re-wick in a heartbeat with all them choclate juices I love so much. The time spent is minimal compared to what I spent on a kayfun.

My Erlkonigin holds close to 6ml and that's about a days worth of vaping for me, so I think the Grand is probably the way to go! Plus, I have pretty big hands, so I think a Grand will be more comfortable to hold.

The only time a Reo leaks is when a person over-zealously squonks and the juice could escape out the airhole or overflow the catchcup. Sounds like it's similar to a dripper. No real leaks if you don't drip and immediately put it in your pocket.

Thanks again for the warm welcome! I've read through the sticky posts, but wanted some more specific answers I guess!

Durable is good. I have a desk job, but am pretty active outside of work. Lots of hiking and outdoors stuff. And while I don't have a problem with my VS, it's just not something I have a lot of confidence to survive in sometimes wet and nasty environments. Especially the glass tanks. I really prefer a mech and a dripper for such tasks, but that has me carrying a juice bottle and pausing to drip. Annoying.

I'm used to building my own coils, so that's not going to be too challenging.

I typically like to vape a 1.2 ohm coil at around 16-18 watts depending on the juice.

Sounds like you should test mods for durability! If you can't break it, I'm sure I'll be fine!
