So c'mon down to Texas and I can have you plop your backside in the seat of something and we'll go do some mowing!
TT
Don't see any markings on it but I'd say that is a Deutsch Allis, TT. Don't see many of those around here in real farm country. (Sorry TT couldn't resist) And what a gallant figure you make on your handsome steed. Not even thinking of mowing yet winters returned here today 25. You easterners can look for it tomorrow I'd imagine. How's those feral hogs TT still a nuisance ? All we got tearing up the yard is moles.
Now THAT'S a mower. Pretty sure you don't actually have to cut anything, the grass just keels over at the sight of it
Our main home has small front and back yards, easy to do with a little self-propelled mower. The lake place has a good sized yard leading to the lake. Looking at a small Ariens riding mower from HD. DW is all "why spend the $, I'll mow it". Now, I love DW to pieces, but I also know her. Mowing an acre just isn't her cup of tea. Think I'll be getting that mower in a month...![]()
Well Moonlit, you sure do know your tractors! Very good! Actually its just a Deutz ... the Allis part came along a little bit later.
And you're right about the real farm country up there in Illinois. I did a consulting job there for a little over a year one time and got to see some of those magnificent farms you folks have. And one thing I can tell you with no B.S., that sweet corn you guys grow is the best I've ever eaten. Wife and I enjoyed it up that way and we met a lot of super nice people.
Down where I'm at you don't see a whole lot of farming. Its mostly ranching so our tractors are used more for keeping land cleaned up than anything else. After I retired (for the third time) I was running some cattle for a while then the drought hit and feed prices went sky high and cattle prices were dropping because everybody was getting out of it and I got out of it too. All of my ponds dried up, there was no grass growing ... real mess. That part is better now.
As for the feral hogs. Man, do we ever have those! If you can imagine a two foot deep pothole, along side another pothole and that goes on and on and on .... that's what we're dealing with. Its so bad that you can only crawl through them on a 4wheeler. The devastation to the land is just incredible. And its only going to get worse. They are breeding so fast and the herds of them getting so big, that they are even moving into towns now tearing up yards and gardens. Its a serious problem.

I vote for a Roomba mower!!! Just turn it on and let it run wild in the yard!!!
I hear you, just hard for me to justify an additional $300.

TT does that tractor go fast enough for me to lawn surf behind it?
Moon, are you strictly cattle, or do you farm any crop on your family place?
