I wouldn't call this a discussion, or a question or anything; Just a statement.

I'm a member of a lot of forums, on a wide variety of different topics, from pets, to cars, to everything.

They all are basically the same, but each has their own different little features. One of them has a karma system. The karma system gently deters people from being douchebags. There's a few other things on other forums that suit this same purpose. ECF doesn't really have one. I find it's really difficult to find any useful information by searching this forum. There are too many posts that are just people shouting their opinion -at the least- all the way up to people posting how "somebody's a ....." over and over, everywhere they go. To these people, thanks more making everything more difficult for everybody else that are here to learn and/or socialize. And remember, you were a noob once too.

ECF has more hateful angry people per capita than any other forum I'm on. It's mildly difficult to bite your tongue, and not say something hateful to people FACE TO FACE. On a forum, you have all the time in the world to think before you post. Please people, don't be hateful.

Just wanted so say this to get it off my chest.

Are you sure you're on the right forum?

First off there's the like in the bottom right corner.

And I haven't noticed any more 'hate' here then in the real world. Granted we're a bunch of nicotine addicts and I'm sure that has some bad side effects, grumpy being one of them.

I do know that nicotine is the most addictive drug I've ever tried, and I've tried plenty. When I was in rehab I knew they weren't about treating addiction since they let you keep your cigarettes but took your mouthwash. They 'said' they would take them if I was agreeable to the notion and I told them there would be a major fight if they ever tried it.

Not one other drug makes you that way.

1st I'm on another forum that uses the Karma system, and some people take great pride in gaining that bad karma.

2nd I've never had interactions with a hateful person here. When I first got here I got advice and opinions from new and old members, all trying to be helpful. Sure some people are very strong in their opinions, but that doesn't mean they are hateful.

Maybe your opinion is that someone was hateful, but why are you trying to scare other new people into thinking everyone here is mean?

It does make it difficult to get information on what you are asking about when you are told that it is not what you want and to get something else.
People do need to take that moment, give the information being asked for ...maybe offer their own opinion...but not criticize the choice made by the member.
Any place you go, you will find people that think they know more about you than you do.
This forum is huge and yes, even searching yourself can be overwhelming.
I am sorry you feel ECF is full of hateful people, there really are so many that truly are very helpful.

For everyone:
If you see anyone ...anyone not posting in a courteous manner, it would be appreciated if you report the post using the triangle at the bottom of the post.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/announcements-rules/51178-forum-rules.html

7. Courtesy
a. Members must be polite at all times. When addressing another Forum user, you will be polite. Courteous discussion is welcome here but heated and abusive argument is not. If attacked you are not allowed to respond in kind. Instead use the Private Message system and try to resolve matters privately and amicably. If problems persist ask for the help of a Moderator.

9.11 Posting something deliberately inflammatory - either to start a "flame war" or simply to cause difficulties for the Moderators.
9.12 Posting snide comments about another member.
9.14 Engaging in behaviour which is disruptive to the general operation of the Forum.

13. Freedom of speech
Your contribution to this forum is not a right but a privilege. As this is a private website there is no public right to freedom of speech. The rules we have in place are to protect the site, and to provide a convivial environment for our Members. In short: we decide what is permissible or not permissible.

Well I won't agree with you entirely in your statement, I will however say that there tends to be alot of rude people here as of late.

Rude as in smart ... remarks in threads and the lack of courtesy to reply back to question threads where others have answered their questions and the OP has not the manners to say "thank you"

Smugness also seems to be rampant as well.

I am also a member of multiple forums. I disagree with you completely.

Pete

I have to agree with Pete. I've been a member of a number of forums dealing with music, technology, and politics. The people here at ECF are very helpful and very friendly compared to most of the forums I've frequented. There will always be the "mine is better than yours" zealots, but for the most part, everyone here is understanding and just trying to provide the information that will help. This is what makes a good community.

I also must say that it's fairly amazing that civility is common and trolling is minimal on ECF, given the rate at which this community is growing. Try to keep some perspective with your expectations of others, and remember that the only person you can change is yourself. If I can think of some other cliche things to say, I'll add them later.

vape on! :smokie:

Ive been a forum user for years, as well as old school BBS systems. This is one of the more friendly places Ive been on. I'm sorry your experience has been so terrible :(

Wow! I used to run an "old school" BBS back in the 90's. It's so rare to hear people talk about them anymore, but I do miss that tight sense of community they provided since all the users were geographically nearby.

Now I'm going to put on my old Def Leppard CD and think of days gone by... :D

I just don't see that many "Rude" or "Hateful" People here on the ECF.

Sure there are a few. And there are some members I don't like. But as a Whole, this is One of the Best and Most Helpful Forum I have EVER Seen.

BTW - My views are somewhat Skewed. In that, I don't Search or View many threads from the "Outside" section of the ECF.

I disagree with you, the ecf is full of helpfull people that go out of their way to help new members and ansewer questions. I have made purchases tbrough this forum, I have had people send me something just to help me out, I have learned how to mix my own juice and many a recipe. Not once have I been treated disrespectfully I have been spending more and more time here and have been having a blast.

After reading all the threads the OP has participated in I suspect this post must have been meant for some other forum. Nothing but mild debate over the APV name change issue, and lots of helpful answers to questions. If it's a mistake, no big deal - we all have a slip of the key once in a while! If not, perhaps contacting a moderator would clear up any misunderstandings.

The Outside forum may be more contentious, but that's not a part of the vaping community I choose to spend time with. If that's the culprit in this case, one would be best off not going there even to read posts.

"I wouldn't call this a discussion, or a question or anything; Just a statement."

OK, but it's an incorrect statement. This forum is not FULL of hateful people. This forum is a cross section of the world. Most are pleasant and helpful. Some are not. Some are rude and arrogant, yep, just like in the real world, but the moderators work hard to minimize this. You have obviously had a bad experience, and I am very sorry about that, but that does not mean that you can tar everyone with the same brush.

If you decide to stick with us, I think your future experiences will prove that I am right. Apologies will be graciously accepted.

From just one of the many non-hateful people here.

I have seen a little bit of what you're describing recently. More than I have seen in the past. Some people have their own agenda that probably has nothing to do with you or your question. People should take a forum break if questions or posts start to irritate them.

I would use the ignore feature on the forum. Under Settings, click the Edit Ignore list and type in the username.

There are some extremely nice and very helpful members on this forum that are only too happy to go out of their way to answer questions. You can usually tell who they are by their posts. Send them a PM. Most are only too happy to help you out or answer questions.

Sorry you're feeling this way. We're all here for the same reason, to quit smoking. Hope you stick around. Social groups are a great way to meet some nice people.

Same here, and I'm the co-owner of a high traffic (not e-cig related) forum too. I'm quite puzzled by the OP!
So far I've found this to be a very supportive and helpful forum. That people have their opinions...well, yeah - I suppose some people can get opinionated, but I don't regard that as hateful.

Then again I've developed a pretty thick skin in my old age LOL and try not to sweat the petty stuff and....you know. :D
