I would like to kindly ask, rhetorically, why so many people are taking such offense to this post. As if it was directed towards them personally. sorry, I'm just psychologically intrigued.

Also, for the ancient computer people, I still have my commodore 128 hooked up. But I don't use it very often, so I'm slowly forgetting how to speak basic.

Me personally I do not take it personal - I just basically rule this a senseless post. I have been here a little while so I have made my own personal judgement of this forum. Vets around here made me feel welcome. And I did not ever see a subject line near the likes of this post. That alone as a new person would put me on guard and feels hateful in of itself.

Quite frankly I wouldn't miss this post if it were deleted or locked.

You're noticing a lot of people taking offense to your original post?
Do you consider people saying they disagree with you to be taking offense?

I think people are genuinely shocked to see a thread like this here.
This forum has always been praised by just about everyone as being the nicest forum they have ever seen.

Honestly, I am quite certain most of us are simply shocked and amazed to see someone saying what you're saying.
I know I am, having spent a lot of time on a number of forums, all of which make this place seem like a slice of heaven.

I know I was one of the first to respond but I certainly didn't take it personally.

I seriously thought they may have been cross posting here when they meant it for the AR-15 forum.

That the noob section has more posts and senior members repeatedly giving the same advice, sometimes 20-50 times a day with folks asking the same question and not getting peeved is rare.

I haven't seen that anywhere else on the internet.

I have never really experienced anything but lots of helpful people on here. I have only got in to one disagreement at all on here and it was more of a misunderstanding. for the most part I have found everyone on here helpful and encouraging. That and everyone tends to help the new guys out a lot. I know I like helping out the people that are newer than me. I am members of other forums ranging from motorcycles, cars, and cellphone software and this seems to be the most tame one I have been on (not that the others aren't tame either)

This is actually the only forum I've ever participated in and so far, sure I've seen some snarkiness, but by and large it's been a super supportive community and I've had the pleasure of meeting some great people and learning so much about my new hobby.

My only complaint is that I do believe this forum has helped to put a little dent in my wallet. ;)

I have to agree with that...my wallet hurts from being on here...could be worse though. I could have spent what I have on one small battery kit and a bunch of awefull tasting prefilled carts. So I still fill like I have saved a ton of money and bought better toys.

So you made your post to intrigue yourself? Is that what you are saying? You post about what you do not like doing to you, but you use it as a test on others... Very lacking...

Noo. That's not what i said at all. From a psychological perspective, it is intriguing to me that so many people responded to the initial post in such a classically defensive manner. Had this been a test though, i think the way you interpreted the post you are referring to in your above post indicates an aggressive posture.

Other guy, you're right, this is a moot point and concurrently a pointless thread. I wouldn't mind if it were deleted myself to stop the hate mail that's currently flowing into my inbox. And just because this has spawned so much aggression (every time i say that, someone else thinks i'm talking to them personally). I don't think there's anything to be gained from this anymore, which was initially kinda my point about other threads. They always devolve into some strange anger-thon.

...

I didn't really take offense of your OP. Well actually, perhaps a little.

The reason is I don't think are too many members who haven't ask a Rookie Quest, one that has been asked 200 Hundred Times Before, and not gotten a Genuinely Sincere and Helpful answer from Multiple Members. And I know that I have Answered Many Questions that people have posted that could have Easily been answered by an ECF Search.

But we have all had questions some time in our life. And answering other peoples questions is it's own Reward.

So to lump a Few Bad Experiences you may have had on the ECF and then to say that the ECF is Full of Hateful people, well, I just don't agree with you.

BTW - Check out how many Nice, Helpful People have answered questions and or Gave their input to Topics Started by Nice People in other threads since you made this thread. I think the number of would surprise you.

I guess your point is proven.
