I've been vaping for a couple of months.

First, I have read that it can cause constipation, which I am experiencing. I'm pretty sure it's because I haven't increased my water consumption like suggested. Agree or no? Any recommendations on how to help this problem, besides increasing water?

Secondly, I woke up this morning with the stomach virus and puked. This is where it gets gross - my vomit was very dry, thick, etc., almost like I had no fluid in my stomach to come out....just food. It hurt me so badly! Has anyone else experienced this? Do you think it could be from vaping and lack of increased fluids? I have NEVER seen anything like it in my 33 years! I'm a bit concerned, really. Does vaping really dry you out that bad?? I know it must, since I do have the constipation, and now the other issue this morning. How good can that really be for your body??

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!:(

Digestion Related Problems of quiting smoking
Yours digestion system will also be disturbed. You will have problems like constipation, ........ and stomach pains. As far as possible you are advised to consume light foods and if need be semi fluid and liquid items rich in nutrients and fibers. The body requires some time to rejuvenate the metabolic activities. Avoid consuming junk food as a substitute for cigarettes. This will only increase the complications.

Because I have a hard time drinking just plain water. Sorry.
I believe most any non-alcoholic beverage would help. As others pointed out, it is flu season. And, one of the old standard recommendations with a cold or flu is to increase fluid intake. Those illnesses can cause dehydration too. Whether you have the flu or not, try keeping yourself from dehydration, always.

One could say you may have gastroenteritis. It will usually subside in 24-36 hours in healthy individuals. I may suggest adding additional fiber to the diet with additional fluids as well. Natural senna tablets may be a short term solution to assist you until you can reach a desired increase in fluids/fiber.

Wishing you a healthy and safe holiday.

I'm also not a water drinker, can't stand the taste of any but the Fuji, SmartWater, or Icelandic brands, and those are too expensive to buy on a regular basis. I drink decaf tea by the gallon though. Juices and low fat milk are good, in fact, Cambridge U found that milk rehydrates after exercise better than water or sports drinks. Anything you mix with water will work; Kool-Aid, Gator Aid, Tang etc. Caffeine in large amounts is actually a diuretic though, so probably best to find something you enjoy that's caffeine free for most of your fluid intake.

Drink anything. Besides other nasty things, dehydration can cause kidney stones...and they're not fun. One thing that's good to help keep you hydrated and "stone" free is Lemonade. Hubby suffered from kidney stones from getting dehydrated one summer, and they told him to drink a lot, of course, and also drink Lemondade, or beer. If you don't' want to drink alcohol...try some of the alcohol free beers if you like beer. LOL

Try to stay away from caffeine....or at least don't drink caffeine all day long. Drink your normal amount of coffee, tea, soda during the day, but the rest of the day, drink caffeine free drinks to keep hydrated.

I drink all day, and all night except when I'm sleeping. Always have. I ALWAYS have a drink next to me. I never even ride in the car without a drink. So dehydration would be almost impossible for me. But, like you, I HATE water. So just drink whatever you like.

If it is hydration one is after, then alcoholic beverages are counter productive. Alcohol is a diuretic.
Alcohol is a diuretic. This means it encourages the body to lose more water than it takes on by halting the production of the body's anti-diuretic hormone. This means you feel the need to pee excessively, thus speeding up the loss of fluid from the body that leads to dehydration.

Alcohol also attacks our stores of vitamins and minerals, which need to be in the correct balance for the body to function normally. Dehydration caused by drinking can affect the balance by draining potassium from the body, resulting in thirst, muscle cramps, dizziness and faintness.

I agree, drink plenty of liquid like any kind of soda will do if you are not water drinker but don't drink more coffee because it dehydrates you and as far as know alcohol does the same... ..and about the tea it is also a good option but as I've heard it goes through your system quickly and you end up going to the loo more often it's a bit diuretic.

Thanks, everyone. It just scared me when I saw how thick it was. The constipation is a bit of a PITA, too. Pun intended! lol I have just never been a water drinker, except for Fiji, as mentioned above. I drink loads of soft drinks daily already, so I don't know if I can increase it much. I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up and TRY to push more water through my system. Ugh. If not, I don't know what to do because I don't want to give up vaping.

So, in conclusion, does it make sense to think that the dehydrating effect of vaping can cause thicker stools, therefore causing constipation? And, if so, then it makes sense that vomit would be thicker, also, right? I've puked my fair share in my life and I've NEVER seen it like it was yesterday!!

Beandip- I've had loads of stomach problems over the years and have been hospitalized about 12 times in the past 2 years because of it and dehydration. I've been to so many doctors and every single one of them has told me that DARK SODAS can dehydrate you even more and also disrupt the natural PH of your stomach. If you drink lots of soft drinks like you say- try to stay away from the dark ones if possible. I drink gingerale, and Gatorade (separately) and haven't had stomach problems since I dropped the dark sodas and caffeine. And yes vaping DOES dry you out that much heh.

Gastroenteritis is going around in Kansas right now. It's pretty bad stuff. Most of the people that I work with, that have come down with it, said that it is lasting 1-3 days. I had it several years ago and don't ever want to go through that again. I vomitted some thick looking sludge also but I was still a smoker then. I think it's just what the virus causes your body to do.

I recommend, if you have someone who can go to the store for you, get a water mix. They aren't sweetned but are really good. Wal-mart has their brand which is what I always use. Beats plain water. If you have the flu, you need to drink Gatorade or some flavored water. I would stay away from caffeine containing beverages. Caffeine will also cause you to dehydrate. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
