It might depend on how one defines "throat hit."
Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I couldn't decide between this and the e-liquid section.
So my question...is it possible to experience the throat hit effect without any nicotine?
Use more vg should give a throat hit

I guess I'm the dissenting opinion. I think you can replicate the throat hit of nicotine with no nicotine with ginger. I cut a piece of ginger root into small pieces and dried it at 170 degrees, then added the ginger to a jar and filled with PG. I let it steep 24 hours strained and vaped. I was shocked at the throat hit, even made mental note when I am ready for 0 mg, ginger will be what I vape. I will also mention I tried this because I love ginger, but also I read some research that says ginger may help people stop smoking. Now this research wasn't talking about vaping, just that ginger is known to help with upset stomach and now some believe that it may have properties that help relieve the cravings of nicotine addiction.
It packs quite a throat hit by the way and if you aren't used to vaping 36 mg 100% PG I would dilute the extract. I found the straight extract to have a similar but slightly stronger throat hit than 100% PG 36 mg nicotine.
Throat irritation, yes. (Diablo loco or chilli seeds steeped in pg/vg)
Throat hit, no.

To me TH = bite at the back of your mouth top of throat. Sometimes it is like a heavy punch, sometimes just a little tickle depending on nic level. I am getting to were I don't care about TH anymore, I just want flavor, lots of flavorLOL bnrk
I think that the guy who can isolate what makes nicotine give you a throat hit and replicate it in a juice without actual nic will make tons of $$$
