Rare or common occurrence it still makes bad headlines we as vape enthusiasts have enough pressure from the media but to add insult to injury ...literally. Hope everyone is safe and hope the op did the right thing and tossed the "bad" batt.

Oh I agree.

500,000 People (or More) can Quit Smoking in a year using an e-Cigarette. But they Never seem to Mention that.

But they will dwell on the possibility of an injury. Its all about headlines. It's relatively still new and no one likes change but they will vote for a president that runs his entire campaign on "change" someday I hope everyone's misconstrued image of vaping changes.

True.

But using a Inaccurate Metter to Measure Ohms can be a Bad Thing if one is Approach the Amp Limit of what a Battery can Handle.

I kinda Cringe when I see Vids of people using $6 fasttech Ohm Testers when the Display is showing .15 Ohms.

Well duh.......

Hey what I call CRAZY, are all the people trusting the meters in their mods......

BUT, a cheap meter is perfectly suited for finding a short and checking connections, and even voltage. YES you need a real meter for things like checking Volt drop, amps and ohms. But then if you are not building at the limits of your equipment, in the first place. You might not need perfect accuracy. I for one operate with a 25-30% amp buffer, meaning, I will never push a 20amp battery past 15amps. Most of my vaping is in the 3-5amp range. IMO, you need a meter any meter if you are working with even a Cigalike or to check a battery. You need a better meter probably in the $100 plus range for any work below 1 ohm and the meters for less than .5ohm or TC are going to cost in the $200 range.

After reading this thread the last couple of days, I withdraw my opinion.

Seems many really do not have much knowledge beyond what CAN happen, and assert it Will happen.

For anyone assuming such, I agree - Toss your batteries.

Some have a good Battery comparison background and understand safe battery use.

A few, @Mooch being one, have actually spent time with Battery testing.

Some have actually Checked thoroughly, metered carefully, tested carefully and kept batteries that were not damaged from a minor incident.;)

Err on the side of caution:thumbs:

FWIW, this is how I feel also......

My comments were a reaction to the OVER-reaction I have been seeing.. Note i never said his battery was OK or safe. I said it needed to be tested. Even if with ONLY a Test Light probing, it needs to be checked.

Anybody else notice how the more advanced and "safe" the devices get the HIGHER the fear of Harm increases??????? It's not like using a mech or Batteries are more dangerous to use today than 1 or 2 years ago.... Infact the opposite is true. Heck I fear REGULATED devices, more sometimes, when it comes to the batteries.. After-all they are designed to allow you to vape beyond the capacity of the batteries. Seems a catastrophic battery failure of a regulated device could have MORE potential for Harm than a Mech, even if the likely hood is less.
