When I found E-Cigs and this site over a month ago I knew we were enjoying this new method of pleasure on borrowed time. Recently many new folks (and some old) have been very vocal about where the future of E-Cigarettes is headed and how we got here in the first place.

Now I see a lot of bickering about who is to blame and what level of government intervention is needed/allowed/expected. The bottom line is government can and will do whatever it is influenced to do. The original manufacturers dropped the ball by not testing to world standards. Dealers screwed up by marketing with unproven health claims. These are the facts as I see them.

So here we are with our E-Cigs and even with clouds on the horizon we continue to enjoy easy access to hardware and juice. But what can we do?

Stock up-We have seen outright bans on product and juice in other countries. It is not unreasonable to expect this to happen here. Do a bit of hoarding. The prices of product are still low. You better believe once dealers feel a pinch prices will skyrocket. buy now for at least a year. More if you don't want to sidestep laws and/or pay inflated prices down the road.

Don't support poor marketing-Don't buy from anyone who sells using health claims. This has and will continue to hurt our cause. Show these dealers just how much money your spending elsewhere with invoice copies. Explain why. Enough of these and you better believe packaging and claims will change overnight.

Write letters-This can't hurt. Write to your local lawmakers. Maybe even write to the opposition. But whatever you do stay away from the health claims. I know this is a tough one. But until it is actually proven to be more healthy than smoking we will only stir up more trouble by saying this.

Inform others-Most still don't know about this new product. Get as many smokers as possible to start vaping nicotine. Steer them to reliable products and help them learn the ropes. Then get them to do the same. We are too few right now. Get the word out to the smoking public and this won't be so easy to sweep under the rug.

Respect non-SmokersDon't vape everywhere. Respect the smoking bans. At least visually. Use your product in approved areas. Good time to recruit as well. Sure you can sneak a few puffs in the bathroom and other more private areas but don't get caught. Now is not the time to be shoving this in non-smokers faces.

Keep active-This could be a long fight for your right to vape and access to quality product. Stay informed. Stay involved. Don't give up. We can affect the outcome of where E-Smoking products end up.

I will stop here but please feel free to add to anything I may have missed. The future of vaping nicotine is ours to protect. Let's start now.

Some very good advice incorporating some very sound insights!

I'm particularly partial to the points on buying from suppliers who tone down the promotional mumbo-jumbo and toning down the flagrant use of e-cigs in public.

Suppliers who are willing to look ahead to the entire industry's future rather than making a quick buck in the short term with over-the-top promo mumbo-jumbo which serves to draw unfavourable gov't challenges, are the suppliers I believe a smart consumer supports wherever/however possible.

Being a bit less flagrant with the use of e-cigs in certain public situations will also help tone down the attacks/challenges against e-cig users as a whole. Personally I'm thrilled to be able to give the general "up yours" to all the self-righteous guys n' gals who haven't a clue how I suffer from this addiction, but I can swallow the temporary ego boost it might give to be flagrant with my e-cig usage if it'll mean a greater chance of having the right to use them in the long term.
