Just remember you rockers will always be waiting for you on the Front and Back Porch threads. Consider the Porches your safe place on ECF and don't be a stranger.

Ah, Mattie. I, too, was among those whom you welcomed, and with whom you so generously shared your thoughts. Thank you! It is hard to know what to say to someone whose heart is heavy, and even more so when that someone is as beloved as you are. So let me say this: Dinna fash yourself, Mattie. Rest, regroup, and remember that your rocker will be waiting for you on the Porches, whenever you choose to sit and visit for a spell. :)

{{{{Mattiem}}}} I get it. Sometimes you just need to step away when things start getting to you. You've been such a friend to so many here that you will definitely be missed. We want our friends to be happy though so do what you need to do, but just remember that you'll be welcome back anytime - and the sooner the better!!

Thank you bunches my dear sweet friends. one of a kind Iffy, sweet Deb, beautiful tearose and everyone else that has given me encouragement during this stressful time. I do apologize to all that I made sad.
Aww, Mattie, we don't want you to be sad either. You have no idea what a positive influence you have been! Come to the Porches, your recliner awaits!

Thanks everyone. I have loved it here and have met lots of very good, kind caring folks. I have been checking in once or twice a week lately and it just ends up making me sad to see where this is going. I am not closing my account yet but I know there is no way I can be as active as I used to be.
Matt,,, you dont know me,, i dont know you. but you represent a 'whole generation' of vapers/vapors before me who spent money and time creating the easy to start vaping process we have now. that knowledge is worth a lot to people like me who were lucky enough to walk into a vape store to buy gear instead of buying that stuff at the gas station. today was a perfect example,,, while back i wicked rayon for the 1st time and i did great and loved it............today i spent 6 hours building and ripping apart what i just built while trying to visit with quite a bit of out of state family visiting.. on top of that i was trying to rig up my new rda's (and i had never done any like the 2 i was working on) so my frustration level was off the scales today.........i felt like a ...........finally i had a few minutes to just go back and reread some posts and make myself 'learn again'.....now i have 2 great sets up and tired eyes and sunday i will finish the 3rd one.===my point it sometimes your history is helping somebody in the present....and i need everyone who came before me. go find something to bleed off your frustration and come back soon!--thanks

What a nice thing! When we got here, there were folks who'd gone before us and helped us, although the equipment pretty much still stunk lol And one day hopefully someone will be thanking you for going before and helping them!

Exactly this, there is way more good on ECF than there is bad, that's why I keep coming back, I see the stupid threads and posts, I ignore them and go elsewhere, they aren't even worth a response, vape on brothers and sisters, we will always be a united family :)

Thank you porch friends  and a big THANK YOU @kross8 for putting everything into prospective for me. I just took a long moment to stop and remember when I first joined this forum. I too was so new at this vaping thing and was kinda lost. All the fine folks that had started before me, sharing their experiences, is what gave me the confidence I needed to know that this new fanged thing would work even for me. That truly is what it is all about. Thank you

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
The guy was younger and bigger. Plus hubby was with me and I respect hubby's feelings about not causing a scene. I didn't know if it would or not so I chose not to try. If he hadn't been with me, I can't say for certain if I would have acted. I guess it would have depended on my frame of mind at that moment.

Today I am traveling alone. My mind set, now, would have me opening up a conversation.

Younger and bigger ?

In a perfect world......yes. In an imperfect world.....

Differences of opinion happen. Trying to understand the written word sometimes is a bit difficult. In heated discussions, one must make sure that the facts *as you know them* are accurate. If a link is posted that may contradict the fact, maybe take a look at it.

With something that can truly affect how vaping is regulated, there are studies that back up both sides of the debate of public vaping. Unfortunately, the ones that go against public vaping are found to be not quite so truthful, when they are scrutinized by people that understand the language.

We have learned to not trust those. Again, unfortunately, we tend to dismiss those immediately. Thank goodness that we do have people that will delve into it and pick them apart to find if there are inconsistencies.

The ones that seem to back up the ability to vape in public are not rewarded with attention as that would completely go against what the Alphabet organizations want.

The fight has been ongoing for years. Some get tired of the battle. It happens. We get burned out.

We see more people that are new to vaping and they bring with them the old mindset of a smoker and how it was drilled into our brain all the bad things about tobacco. We enter the vaping arena still under the impression that nicotine is the bad guy.

Constantly battling that mindset that cannot divorce the two is hard.
It seems, for me, to boil down to: Do you think that the government has the right to restrict behavior, regardless of the fact that that behavior does no discernible harm to oneself or others. For some, the possibility of a potential for harm is enough, even when there is no scientific basis to believe that potential exists. That is what many of us are fighting. However, someone who believes that is not likely to change their mind, since reasoning has nothing to do with that opinion. It's also the basic idea for everything that most of us fight against. So yeah, frustrating.

Mattie i get your upset with views like mine but see here's why i have the view that i do...there are inconsiderate vapers, especially the younger ones, who are very intrusive with their vaping out in public places. Me i am a tootle puffer and i believe you are as well...but your not seeing the problem because you are looking at the way YOU vape, but not taking into consideration the "other" vapers that businesses have to deal with throughout the day. If they allow vaping in the store for example, they know they are going to have to deal with the "other" vapers which offends their customers and causes complaints. So they have to just draw a line for all vapers. I get it because i have witnessed these "other" vapers...the issue isn't the daily tootle puffers that visit their place of business, but they also can't allow massive cloud makers either given they will have upset customers. I have nothing against cloud makers at all...but many do not get that vaping like that out in public places causes problems.

At the end of the day..it's just the way it is and i can respect why vaping is handled much like a smoker in these situations...smoking is offensive in one way...but vaping is also offensive in another way "MASSIVE lingering smelly CLOUDS" . So you take second hand vapor harm out of the equation and you still have a problem...massive lingering smelly clouds that offends others in public places. The only thing a business can do is just draw a line for all vapers to follow.

So i ask...what is your solution? how do businesses deal with massive cloud blowers coming into their place of business and clouding the place up with strawberry scented clouds that smells like rotten fruit to others?
Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see anyone put forth the "vape anywhere, even if it's not allowed" argument. What I see is a push against the "don't vape if smoking is not allowed" argument, which is something else altogether. If a business wants to not allow vaping, fine, they have that right. When the government gets involved, and suddenly it becomes a criminal act for me to vape in a car with my child present, I'm sorry, but you better have a good reason to make that call. I do not accept "It might be harmful, even though nothing credible has shown it to be."

The prospect of a $100 fine for vaping in a car with my child present, which will actually become the law if Governor Brown signs the recent bills, prevents me from being full of rainbows and good will.

See Lessifer my big thing is I never smoked around my kids especially in a closed car & I would never even think about vaping around my grandson anywhere it might blow on him! See to me all children are precious gifts from God & I will sacrifice my needs to protect them so this law would never even affect me! I absolutely agree with you that the laws today are really getting stupid!
But I'm gonna sit back & wait for the revolution when America finally wakes up & realizes what they let happen! But until then there's not much I can do because of bad choices I made early on I can't even vote!

That's fine, as a personal choice. Can you give me an actual reason, backed up with evidence, as to why the government should restrict others from doing so? Since the evidence against second hand smoke is largely manufactured, the evidence against second hand vapor is nonexistent.
