I wanted to put together some tips for people trying to quit smoking. I've seen random tips on a bunch of different threads but wanted to collect them if possible. I'll give my tips and welcome everyone to give their own.

1. Its not the cigarettes you do smoke, but the ones you don't that's important.
2. Get a sample pack or multiple small bottles of e-juice to start. You will want to try new flavors.
3. Don't try to find the flavor that is exactly like your cigarettes. They don't exist. If you like tobacco, find a tobacco flavor you like.
4. Figure out your triggers. Knowing these will help you prepare for them, and cause you to grab your PV, not the pack of smokes.
5. If you stumble and smoke, don't beat yourself up. It happens.
6. Make a list of why you are quitting. Think about that list when you are craving a smoke.
6. Support is important. This board is great for encouragement, but having people in your life to cheer you on can be the difference between success and failure.

I quitted smoking round about 6 years ago; now I'm smoking sometimes some stuff like an e-cigarette or something other ;-) on special events and I'm very happy with this. I calculated that I have saved about thousands of bucks up to now. So I could buy a Audemars Piguet.

It is the money you have to look after if you want to stop with smoking.

One of the main things which i think is very important is to always make sure you are well stocked. There is nothing worse than being awake @ 1am, no juice left or an atty which has burned out and you cant even go to the shop for smokes because they are closed. So either way you're screwed.

Always keep up stock

Don't look at this like any other quit, it's a new experence and all the "old quitting rules" do not apply. When first changing over, look at it like a change of brands. We hate changing up but we've all had to do it at one time or another. When we say were "quitting smoking" it tends to bring up a lot of anxiety, fear, depression and anger. It makes the experience much harder than we need to.

That's a great tip! That's what I had to do. It made it so much easier.

Wow! That is some wristwatch! Gotta get me one of those!

Seriously! Way to go. And a great method to stay on track. Keep up the good work.

Disposables aren't working for me anymore, I'm back to analogs full time until my shipment comes... that's my tenative "transition" date for now... If I slip and have one or two every now and then afterward I'm okay with that.

I really can't stress how helpful and responsive the people on this forum are, and just reading other's stories about quitting has me really excited to get started.

My best tip has always been to just get started vaping rather than spending forever trying to figure out what you think you need.
The fact is, you probably don't know what you need, because you've never experienced vaping.

Yes, I know. You think you need to duplicate the cigarette experience as much as possible.
But it is highly likely you will find that the cigarette experience isn't always what you thought it was.

But how could you know that going in, when that is all you have experienced?
No harm, no foul. Look forward to learning what your needs really are, and how to meet them.

Look at it as a journey away from smoking, wherever it takes you.
:)

Whatever you buy first will help you learn what you like and don't like.
And it will help you understand the advice you keep getting here on this forum much better than if you hadn't at least got started.

Don't get discouraged and give up when you don't grasp all the different terms and technical mumbo jumbo. Research, watch vidoes, ask here, because once you start getting the grasp of things, the other stuff falls in to place. No one thought I'd be able to quit the stinkies, but I haven't had a cigarette in 8 days. Now we're on a hunt to find a tobacco flavor the husband likes.

Have extra strong juice around for the morning and emergencies. I used 24 in the morning instead of the normal 18.
If you still can't kick the smokes, WTA might be worth a try. I did that for the first few months of "really" quitting.

Kopfstimmen where did you get your WTA from. Thinking about trying some really hard. I've only been able to find one vendor so far. Suggestions. I've read the posts and information on ECF till my eyes got crossed.

Hey, tnt56! I only know one vendor; Aroma Ejuice. I'm a menthol smoker, so I loved the P38, and still do (haven't bought it in a while, though). Camel (I believe) tasted most like a "regular" cigarette, and for the 24mg, I had Cherry Cola. I've also still got a bottle of "Red Tail Vapor" in Dark Honey Tobacco 24 mg which I will probably never use. I got it from them, too. If you want it, PM me with your address and I'll send it to you. Might take a while though, since I'd be mailing from an Army Post Office in Germany. :)

All very good tips. Took me 3 rounds to finally kick the analogs. Biting the bullet and actually getting a decent kit is what it took for me, the gas station kits just didn't do it.

Personally I had the same problem. Tried two combinations that other people suggested and only now that I have a decent vaping setup, i'm finding it a lot easier. Only been on pure vaping for a week now but have not wanted to go back to analog. I really think the right setup makes all the difference
