I hate to be mean about it, but i agree with everyone else here saying the "perfect vape" doesn't exist. vaping IS NOT the same thing as smoking. It never will be, and it'll never be perfect. Whatever you can vape that can keep you off of analogs is the best thing. For me it was 808's and a basic vanilla in the morning, menthol in the afternoon evening. I realize i'll never get perfect hits out of it and that's ok, i enjoy it enough that it keeps me from smoking.

If you never set an un-realistic expectation for vaping, you'll never be disappointed by it.

Hi loft,
I think you have been vaping long enough to know what's up with it, the hassles, the time, the money, chasing the dream. Here is my 2 cents - I don't know what the weather is like this time of year in CT, but in MT we have very little sunshine and fog hanging down to the ground on most days. Also it's the most depressing time of the year for some. For me at this time of the year nothing is right, not food, clothing, not my job (which I love), or my family (the best). You could just be going through a "funk". Nothing is perfect let alone us human beings. Do your best to make yourself happy. Try not to make any really rash decisions. Hang in there.

I know I'm late into this thread, but I'm on a break at work and it caught my eye.

Psychology is an important factor for all us current, part-time, and past smokers. I see a lot of people think they "fail" because they can't get into vaping and entirely quit smoking or get rid of the urge. I believe many of these people put too much pressure on themselves and, likewise, feel too much pressure from us to quit smoking and become all vapor.

I believe in reduced harm ... every cigarette that we avoid will reduce the harm they cause. I was lucky and stopped smoking right away, but there ~46 million smokers in the US who are each unique individuals, and have there own reasons for smoking, and triggers to smoke; and each will take to e-cigs in their own unique ways. I would rather hear that somebody took a year or more to entirely quit smoking, than to hear they got too frustrated with e-cigs and gave up completely.

The same goes for diet. There is no way in the world I could switch to a 100% healthy diet overnight. I was raised on fast food. However, I have omitted some of the unhealthy foods, and no longer eat every meal from a drive-thru. I still eat those meals ... just less of them. I'm on my way.

Anyway ... just a couple thoughts ... and not just directed to loft's original post. I just figure a lot of people who are frustrated with vaping will be looking in here, and I just wanted to offer a few of my thoughts. :)

(Off to get a Big Mac. )

You're kidding about the Big Mac, right?
Please say you're kidding.

LOL, yeah ... actually had baked fish, pasta, and green beans for lunch yesterday. But when work serves up something like veal ... it IS off to fast food. Because it's faaast. (Said in Kevin Pollak's voice while impersonating Christopher Walken, regarding marsupials.)

Accidentally sent when I sat on my phone.

You aren't being mean. I'm not even looking for perfection, I'm looking for what can keep me off analogs as well - but the problem is that everything I've tried tastes like utter .... I've even tried going back to 808's thinking it was just my brain messing with me and that I needed something that was more like the "habit" (aka oral fixation of hand to mouth, styling of device, etc) and that wasn't the case at all. I needed more power, and I also can't stand cartomizers for some odd reason. *shrug* still using the vv bottom feeder that I have, with ry4... it's getting me by...

wickedalibi,
Yeah, I am fully aware of the hassles, time, money, etc. Right now the weather isn't too bad - usually a lot colder but for some reason we're still averaging 60 degree weather with some sun so that is on the plus side. Normally this time of year I'm a poster boy for depression due to issues I'd rather just not talk about on here - but I'm not really having "down" issues at the moment. I have no issues with anything outside of vaping, really. Everything is normal. One thing I am realizing for me is, when outside - I need more power. Substantially more. Juices don't taste burnt but meh.

I finally received my order of unflavored juice and it's leaving a funny aftertaste/film in my mouth. I assume it's the VG - as I normally steer clear of it. And yes, I'm drinking plenty of water while vaping :)

Flavor overall isn't horrible, and I'm going to try lowering the voltage to see if maybe a little more subtlety is what I need out of this instead of hardcore rape your throat style vaping.

I went into diy just to control what I was vaping, get exactly what I wanted.

What floats your boat? Tobacco? Fruit? Pastry?

I vaped a very cig-like blend for several months, changed to a mellower tobacco for four months, have been using a vanilla tobacco since late feb. I'll dial the voltage up or down a hair during the day to alter the flavor.

    .

Straight unflavored has got to be brutal to folks used to good flavors. You can probably reach your objective with a few drops of your great flavoring also mixed in. No need to be suffering around the holidays:)

Good point on how much voltage to use with unflavored, I can't imagine it would be good much over 4.2 or so. I'm an unflavored guy but have not got over 3.7, but it did taste much better in a clearo than my Bogelr's.

    Best wishes-Bob

Lots of vapers complain that vaping doesn't do for them what a tobacco cigarette does. Vaping tastes different (actually better), but the look and feel just isn't a ciggie. You can't hang a pv from your lips as you work with your hands.

Vaping provides nicotine and taste, but not the things that give you that calm feeling. It's the MAOI component of tobacco that satisfies that urge. I still smoke a few analogs every day while vaping like a fiend. I keep saying that I'll dump those last few cigs, but haven't. Maybe when my wife quits, I will too.

Here's a link that talks about the MAOI component of tobacco and how it addicts us and satisfies us. You might also look up some of the suppliers who use actual tobacco derived nicotine that contains some of the MAOI component of tobacco in the juice. Ozark Fresh is one of those suppliers.

This is your brain on nicotine

hi, I know you probably are not going to take much stock from what I have to say after you have been off smoking way longer than me. I just want to put it out there anyway and cringe from the after affects of my comments... here we go... nothing can taste nastier that the foul burning of paper and licking an ashtray surely whatever you have going on now has to be better than that? perhaps you have hit the time where not only are you over anologues you are also over e-cigarettes, I mean if nothing is doing it for you maybe you got there... congratulations

I find it's very easy to find the perfect vape. But the hardest thing is keepin it consistent.

When I first started out I found a perfect local vendor who made THE most amazing and most flavorful flavors. Then... well he moved to canada... :(

He used to sell me clearomizers and all kinds of cool, but simple stuff.

I have been messing around with DIY and many different Ecig models. I tried my hardest to imitate the liquid he used to make but never got it down.

Today I just got some clearomizers and some different flavors for DIY liquid.

I just made some strawberry lemon juice (kinda like pink lemonade) and I think today I have my perfect vape. But who knows maybe tomorrow I'll get sick of it and go on another chase to find the "Perfect Vape"

My goal is to be able to take ALL the ecig crap I own and put it in a box and throw it in the ocean and only stick with one thing. I accumulated SO MUCH stuff from e cigs that it sometimes gets fustrating digging through it to find an old cartomizer or battery.

I'd like to just have one or two batteries and enough "good" liquid to last me forever. Instead I'm always going back and forth between all these models of carto's atty's and batteries.

Also Idk if you ever tried clearomizers.

    I found these.
Bauway 510 XL CE2 Style Clear Cartomizers, 2.5 ohm, 5 pack

I've been using boge carto's for a little while and I slowly grew a huge animosity towards them. I got my order today and couldn't be happier.

Hopefully you have a success with your "perfect vape" journey!

I'm learning to hate vaping. I've had periods with carts and cartos, where the juices were great and I was loving it. Then it turns into a constant effort, mess cleanup, recharging and burnt filler and juice. 10% of the time I like the 90% I'm refilling, spitting out burnt nasty, cleaning threads, blowing out excess or gaging. If I wasn't addicted, I'd throw all this garbage in the trash and walk away.
