Lol believe it or not, we've come a long way. Ask any veteran that started out with 510 atties and carts; there was the coffee stirrer mod, and the pyramid tea bag mod, and the spring mod (from ball point pens) and the fluval mod... Yeah, you get the picture. ;)

And people think it's a PITA to build coils?? C'mon! Wow.

They should put this in the new Vape wing of the Smithsonian. Right next to a box of Marlboro Reds.

Thank you Vets for bringing us where we are today. You have my respect.

Lol Huckleberried, I got tickled when he was talking about topping off @ 5 to 7 drops. IIRC the whole cart was like 10 - 12 drops, and that was the delivery method being defended at the time. Now I can fill a tank and get half a day out of it... ah, the wonders of fast moving technology. :D

Maybe I'm just lucky but I have a PT2, a PT3, and 3 mini PT2's and have no issues with any of them. No gurgle, no leak (occasional TINY bit of liquid just on the connector of the Provari). Coils have been lasting 1-2 weeks just with removing and soaking after every couple fills and I use them till the liquid is gone- no topping off... am I in the minority having a positive experience here?

I don't think you're (we're) in the minority. Mine worked great when I first got them, and I was using the stock heads/coils; and they work even better now, with my home made coils and cotton wicks.

I have two plus extra pack of coils. never leaked unless the coil was damaged.

I get the rant about the plastic ones, But the protanks? these things are built like iphones...
Just put a new coil...
Anyway this is my experience and it is anecdotal so maybe I happened to get a good batch.
P.S.
I smoke mostly heavy VG and no issues. just gently rinse the coil chimney it and that is it. (the tank itself is solid you can do whatever and it wont leak).

Every time someone complains about the protank ll people swoop in and offer up all the quick fixes and analogies to why it doesn't work properly. Well...you shouldn't have to take something out of the box and do anything except start using it. First thing is I don't want to keep my protank "topped off" to make it work properly because I may not want to vape another tank of that particular flavor. So I could pour the old flavor back into the bottle right...No, because it's burned up like any and every juice I put in it whether it's clear or dark or high pg or low pg. I've had 2 protanks for almost 4 months and there's no fixing these things. They're gonna gurgle they're gonna leak on your battery they're gonna burn up your juice they gonna burn thru your coils and they're gonna work great for the first vape of the day after you dry your battery replace your coil and put new juice in them! I put the top off of one of my wifes evods on to my joy tech ego (where my protank used to be) and it works great been using the same coil for a week and it hasn't even started to blacken the wick and the battery last 3 days. I was about to give up on ecigs because though the evod worked ok I could drain the battery in no time but I have found the perfect combination by swapping the heads.

First post and a member since only THIS MONTH!

Another GN is in our midst.

However, I am not going to defend my PT2's or Mini PT2 but while I'm watching as others defend them I'm going to sit here and blissfully vape away on my PT2 on my VTR and enjoy the sweet snap-crackle-pop from a perfectly working atomizer.

Welcome to ECF OP. pull a chair up to the bar and feel free to bend an ear or two.

My exp with the Protank I, II has been marvelous they work perfectly with a variety of VG/pg blends I use, no leaking gurgling they simply work, I clean them very two refills without issue. I use many toppers, novas, iclears, ce4s, and several other low end units all work great.

I also use a few higher end units and a couple RBA and RDA units all simply work but as life would have it sometimes problems can present themselves for some.

I for one am completely satisfied with all my Vape gear, thanx to ECF where I find new stuff to try, and I do like to try different things, hey is that something shiny over there.

No problems here with my PT2's either. But like everything else in the ecig world, different people will have different experiences with their ecig toys :)

Tired of people defending the protank ll

Interestingly, I've had similar problems when I had my Protank 2 for the first two weeks. It was my first tank and I've been using cartos for the past two years. (Well, I've tried the earlier tanks after about 6 to 8 months of vaping, the ones with cartos inside, but the constant gurgling made me give them up and resumed using cartos.)

I've almost given up on my Protank 2. It wasn't the burning, it's the gurgling. I really had no idea where it's coming from. I then bought 2 rebuildables and decided to try my hands on these things. So I had completely different coiling set ups - the Kayfun, RSST and the Protank. It was a trial and error which involved common sense and patience. They're all working now, including the Protank 2, which is surprisingly the one giving me the best vape. I don't know why and how the gurgling disappeared. The Kayfun is a tank, but it's more like dripping because you can't really put too much liquid in it, otherwise the gurgling starts. Difference is dripping requires you to moisten the wick every ten minutes or so, but this one is like a modified carto and can be used for extended periods by putting 15 drops or so. The RSST is fine, but it's too airy.

EDIT: If it's the burning, then common sense will tell that it's not wicking fast enough.

I think the key is in realising that to get the vape you want from it you're going to have to invest some time in tailoring it to the kind of liquids and environment you're using it in. It really is an incredibly simple device that relies on pressure, surface tension and vacuum to work - too much thin liquid in the tank and it'll flood, too thick a liquid and it'll choke on the flavour wicks - and with a limited airflow that's easily cut off by flush-mounting or compressing the vent hole in the bottom plug there's many things that can leave you scratching your head.

That's not to say all ProTanks have this problem - there's plenty of happy users just in this thread - it was obviously built to fit to a certain specification and I'd guess that those that have had no issues with the (unmodified, stock wicks) PT are using it that way :)

Despite the hiccups I've had with mine I'm going to use it as an opportunity to build some microcoil/cotton wick heads and I'm considering getting an AeroTank so I can built single micro-coils with airflow control (plus, the AeroTank looks really good - shame on Kanger for ripping off the KFL lol!).

I have a Protank I and II, and i must say like the I better. I know it should be the same but i seem have all the same issues with the II, but the I never disappoints. Now i have drilled out the air holes on the bases to 1/16 and that made a huge difference. Now i recently purchased a Vivi-Nova style dual coil atty clone, and have fell in love with it. A little warmer vape but seems to be a consistent hit every time. Cant say that for any of my Protanks. Have been using the new atty for about 1 1/2 weeks now and no problems and great vapes. My $.02.

I have not been vaping very long at all, I have 4 Pro TankII tanks and 3 iClear 30 tanks. My preference is for the iClear but the Pro Tanks are rock solid. I did have some leaking issues. I also have found out that it was my fault. I messed with stuff and behold the tank did not work as intended. Shocking. I did remove the flavor wicks and replace them with cotton and that does seem to make them work more efficiently. Just my experiences with the Pro TankII. No defense no preaching just giving my first hand experiences with them.

I'm not sure what happened to my recent pt2 but when I got it and pulled it out of the box, the drip tip was so wobbly I had to put another thicker drip tip in it immediately. Not sure if it was just a spoof thing that it passed through quality checks or what have you but it kind of annoyed me. Really I didn't have any problems with it for a week until it started flooding pretty bad and then it just wouldn't fire. I still have to play with it some more, I am not even using it right now but I think tonight I am going to start messing with it and seeing what's wrong. I really don't want to rebuild it but if I have to to at least get my moneys worth out of it then I will.

So far it's a 6/10 for me personally with all my combined purchases. To each their own.
