I have EVOD's and mini's.. agree the heads are mucky. No other options except rebuilding your own? Aaaack.

My Evods and Minis are usually ok out of the box. It's when you learn how to recoil them and use cotton that a whole new level comes from them. It's really easy too and there are tons of videos showing how to do it. I can't imagine running out and spending money for new coil heads when you can basically do it in a few minutes for free. After the initial cost of the kanthal and cotton... which is not much at all. After that purchase.... you basically have an infinite supply of heads! Heads that are MUCH better performing and let the full flavor of your juices come through. Everyone should learn how to do it!

I rinse out and dry my tanks after every second fill. Once I begin to taste a difference or after about two weeks, I pull the head and replace it. Once I have 4 or so heads together, I pull all the heads apart and remove the flavor wicks. I then dry burn the coil at about 3.7 volts until I see it start to glow again. Replace the flavor wicks with 1mm silica, and reassemble the head and put it back for the next swapout.

I've been using Kanger stuff for 12 weeks and have actually thrown away 4 heads. Two were crap Fasttech heads. Two were used ones that I tried my luck at totally rebuilding by recoiling. Didn't turn out great. Easier for me to dry burn and replace the flavor wicks. Once the heads actually pop, I'll throw them out.

Still think the protank 2 and mini pt2 just don't cut it

Defend away but IMO as the OP

Compare the pt2 to a ithaka and your tune will change? To each there own..I gave the pt2 a shot and effectively used it but now it is just a reserve player for the reserves to me.

Maybe even retired

I removed the top wicks in the 4 tanks I am running.. 6 days in and they are troublesome. So is weekly changing pretty average? All my juices are about 70/30. Moderate vaping. My minis don't leak or gurgle..it's just the heads that cause the grief. They just quit producing quality vapor.

Wash the stock heads in the hottest water you can stand. Do this every few days. Let them dry and when you put them back in.... it will be like a whole other head without issue. most of the time anyway. Cleaning will get you much more life and better performance out of them.

Simple beginners level "tweaking" and the PT2's mini and fullsize even the EVOD run like a champ...(even though I like the AGA-T2 genesis RBA better)

But I guess some just want hassle free vaping...can't say as I blame em

And yowza...on the cheerleader

Should we compare apples to oranges while we are at it? I have a kayfun.... and still use protanks quite often. Some people just know how to make them perform and they are much better for travel/work than some larger RBA.

Touché

I can get them working stellar, but just don't want to bother

You have to admit, you Kayfun kicks the heck out of your pt2

As I said defend away but if you dig the pt2 dig away

The point is that Protanks can rock if you know what you are doing. Say goodbye to buying(wasting money)heads over and over or dealing with common issues with the stock tanks. Have you rebuilt a Protank head with cotton? Do you know how they actually perform afterwards? It isn't about defending a poor product. It's about easily correcting faults and making something vape like an ultra reliable champ... for free. My protanks go to work and other places with me MUCH more often than any RBA. You wouldn't take the Vette to the grocery store instead of the SUV would ya?

Exactly. Anyone here that is tired of the usual issues.... should take the few minutes to watch the video and then do this. You don't even have to rebuild the coil. It really is so simple and the gains are huge. I can't imagine someone choosing constant crappy performance, spending money on new heads, and being lazy over doing something that takes literally 2 minutes and performs so well. Protank issues are a thing of the past. Just do it and be "hassle free" once and for all.

Guys the pt2 has it's place no denying

My SUV is an ego and I clear but it is not as satisfying

I'm simply saying that with what I have on my lineup the pt2 has been put on the bookshelves

I will definitely watch the video and give it another chance , I am open minded

Just like rolling in my vettes I guess

Main thing is no smokes

Cheers

And people think it's a PITA to build coils?? C'mon! Wow.

They should put this in the new Vape wing of the Smithsonian. Right next to a box of Marlboro Reds.

Thank you Vets for bringing us where we are today. You have my respect.

Ha Ha memory's...i think those tea bag and fish tank filters did a damn good job!....

Get yourself a beginner RBA like an RSST. Learn how to make your own. I read these posts about a coil lasting a week and your happy??...i have had the same coil on my RBA for 2 months..every now and then i dry burn it..good luck

My SUV is a Provari with Protanks. My Vette is mechs with RBAs and RDAs and low ohms. There is a time and place for both regardless of which is preferred. In my busy life.... the protanks get used on the go. No way would I ever stay with a weak performing tank such as a well used stock Protank. My whole point is that so many people keep fiddling around for mediocre performance when they don't have to at all. Cotton is the ticket to fixing all the problems while gaining a big bump in performance... and saving money in the process. It's just too logical and easy to ignore. Anyone who does try it should come back and share your results and newfound joy. :toast:

I am just barely starting to get this right on my rebuilds, if I can get it right on the PT2 I will be thrilled. I wanted to try and get it right with the cotton before I tried to replace the coil.

I followed the video pretty closely. The first hit was magnificent, the second ok, then a gurgle, then it turned into a straw and my battery flooded. Am I not using enough cotton? The piece was enough to just be a little tight in the coil but moved back and forth without shredding. I did not twist it too hard. It looked like it filled the holes on either side after replacing the rubber piece. Should another piece go on top to replace the flavor wicks?

Every time someone complains about the protank ll people swoop in and offer up all the quick fixes and analogies to why it doesn't work properly. Well...you shouldn't have to take something out of the box and do anything except start using it. First thing is I don't want to keep my protank "topped off" to make it work properly because I may not want to vape another tank of that particular flavor. So I could pour the old flavor back into the bottle right...No, because it's burned up like any and every juice I put in it whether it's clear or dark or high pg or low pg. I've had 2 protanks for almost 4 months and there's no fixing these things. They're gonna gurgle they're gonna leak on your battery they're gonna burn up your juice they gonna burn thru your coils and they're gonna work great for the first vape of the day after you dry your battery replace your coil and put new juice in them! I put the top off of one of my wifes evods on to my joy tech ego (where my protank used to be) and it works great been using the same coil for a week and it hasn't even started to blacken the wick and the battery last 3 days. I was about to give up on ecigs because though the evod worked ok I could drain the battery in no time but I have found the perfect combination by swapping the heads.

I think it is the physics of these bottom coil tanks (gravity fed). I could never quite figure out the right balance of wick material. The greater the capacity, the more problems I seemed to have (more pressure). But the mini's and mini davides work great for me.

Yes...simply roll it into a string, lay it across the coils, put back on chimney and rubber cap, trim with nail clippers, reassemble, let sit a few seconds to soak up the juice, Vape Yo Face Off!!

Really sorry that your PT2 is giving you such a hard time
