so after using the 18350 TI version for a day I have to say this mod is outstanding. Feels so light a well made a hits like a train. I'm the proud owner of a wizard evolved too but I must say the simplicity titanium feels better a I really love my wizard for sure. first I thought 400 bucks are much for a device compared to the ss version who coast 3 times less but now holding this masterpiece in my hands I understand the price. trading for a caravela? I don't think so bec. the simplicity is much better.think I shot a big winner with this device:)

So just to clarify for my own education, Titanium vs Stainless Steel in the Simplicity 18350. Titanium would not make it perform better, its just lighter but just as strong, less scratch resistant, etc. Titanium is much more expensive and more difficult to machine so of course adds to the cost.

I just hear people once in a while saying that Ti is a better conductive metal, is it?

Hey Nighthawk... Did the Ti make it to you???

:( nope

Tracking shows it shot straight past me to another province to my left. I swear our postal system is slightly less reliable than a carrier pigeon. Thanks for asking and I'll be posting the second I have it in my hands! Keep calm and vape on!

Cool, glad to know the facts. People tend to try and justify certain devices with all sorts of "mythical" reasons. Ive used this video many times because it shows the average persons reasonings for things that are "must have/use" without any real logical reasons.

I have seen that on many threads on ECF regarding some of the "IT" devices.

In fact, both metals are pretty similar in their conductivity, with Ti being only marginally less so than stainless steel

I believe it is the other way around.
Also i believe it is also more scratch resistant than either 304/316 SS.
Where it shines for me is the weight and texture/feel, regardless of finish. It seems to me a more noble material.
A patrician compared to a vulgar plebeian. Might sound/be snobbish but that is how i feel about it.

I believe it is the other way around.

The two are so close as to be negligible in difference, particularly given the short electrical path of a PV, though here's my source:

Physical Properties of Titanium and Its Alloys :: KEY to METALS Articles
If the conductivity of copper is considered to be 100%, titanium would have a conductivity of 3.1%. From this it follows that titanium would not be used where good conductivity is a prime factor. For comparison, stainless steel has a conductivity of 3.5% and aluminum has a conductivity of 30%.

I'm with you 100% on your other points, though :)

I work in the materials industry (but not on Ti very much) so take this with a grain of salt. I can tell you that Ti is about half a percent less conductive than SS. Most materials have a Grade and that will influence hardness and electrical conductivity as these are a function of composition and grain structure. Annealed Ti is harder than all grades of SS inherently, add to that it work hardens with machining, so logically it should be more scratch resistant. Anyways…you guys can quit yawning and I'll go back to refreshing the CanadaPost app.

That's great that it's passed through customs and is at least moving, though. Even moving in the wrong direction means it isn't lost. If it had stayed in the same location for 2 or 3 weeks, that'd be cause to worry.

Mine has actually seemed more susceptible to scratches.

Maybe it's because I have a toddler, though. Grabbing several items in the same hand in a hurry so I can jump up and chase her is a pretty common occurrence around here. Sometimes my poor little Ti shares a frantic fist with car keys, my U-Can, or other metal objects that don't play well with the Ti finish.

It's a damn good thing it has a lifetime refinish warranty!

They are NOT scratches...... They are unique patterns that add to the character and amount of "love" it gets from it being your constant companion. If I want a showroom quality item then it would be kept in a case, but that would be either sad or because it doesnt perform its function other than looking pretty.

Well, maybe i misunderstood the figures but here is what i was looking at:

Titanium - Comparison of Properties with Other Metals

Conductive Materials or Metal Conductivity - TIBTECH innovations -

Regardless, i am biased toward titanium and i want it to beat the SS in any aspect. Probably wishful thinking/dreaming.
