Titanium wire source and what size to get

So I have went from Kanthal years ago to the Ni80 then to SS. I am wanting to move into the TC side of vaping and skip over the Ni200 and go to Ti. I live in central Florida and Lightning Vapes is only an hour or so from me so I get my wire quick and cheap on the shipping. My question is...has anyone tried their Ti wire? I have heard about the Unkamen Ti wire and how it's good. Just wondered what makes one companies Ti decent from anyone else's Ti wire.

Also, I like to do advanced builds (SS aliens, staggered fused claptons, etc...) and wondered how Ti works with the advanced builds. For instance, I see the smallest gauge of Ti I can find is 28 so would I use 26 gauge or 28 gauge as my core wire then wrap it with 32 gauge or 36 gauge SS and run it TC due to the current taking the path of least resistance with the larger gauge wire being the Ti?

Now my last question, I plan on buying 1 spool of Ti (at least for now unless someone on here gives me a good why I should but 2 separate gauges of Ti wire). I was thinking I could buy a spool of 24 gauge (what I usually make SS coils out of if I'm not doing advanced builds) and give that a try then try some 26 gauge or 28 gauge when I want to do some advanced builds later on. If I get 2 spools of different gauge wire at one time I would only have to pay for shipping one time vs if I buy one spool now then another at a later time. Looking forward to the responses I get one this.


::Edit:: So I just looked back in Lightning Vapes website and they only have20, 22, 24, and 26 gauge. No 28 gauge ‍.

I get my ti from TEMco by way of amazon but you can order right from them. I get 26g but I ordered some 28g by mistake I just twist it by two. Temco wire is nice and soft easy to work with.

I do but I'm wanting a cleaner more flavorful vape and from what I have read the cleanest most flavorful vape is from Ti. That's what I'm looking for so why settle for one when you can have what you want. Just trying to get people's opinion on what gauge Ti to use and where they get it from.

Never mind, I found it. That's a bit expensive compare to what I would get on Lightning Vapes. I can get a 50' spool of 26 gauge for $7.94 before a 17% discount code. I guess beggars can't be choosers though.

ahh ok. I havent had to change my SS coils so far and can pulse to clean. With Ti apparently its not an option, so I stick with SS since I CBF changing coils once a week

I vote for rolling with SS. it's much more versatile, easier to work with and has a very clean taste. If you are getting a "taste" out of your SS wire, maybe switch suppliers? I never get a taste out of mine personally.

I have been using Ti for quite a while now. This what I found, Regular Ti is springy, makes it a little hard to work with. I found a source with soft Ti wire.
Titanium Round Wire, 10-ft. Coil, 16-Ga., Soft Titanium Laser-Weight Round Wire, 30-Ga., Soft it's a bit more money. How ever it is nice to work with.
I use 24 gauge, If your looking to make clapton wire I would consider 30 gauge or even 28 for the out side wire. I tried 32 gauge for out side clapton wire & it was to thin & broke when I tried to wrap it.

I tried SS wire in TC many times, I like the Ti better.

Ti wire can produce a white residue if heated to 1800 degrees give or take I haven't researched the # in a long time but it's way up there, So I would NOT! recommend dry burning the Ti wire. I make spaced coils, never dry burn or glow the wire red hot for fear of producing the dreaded white powder residue.

If you want to make contact clapton coils & glow them red hot, SS mite be a better choice.

It is, of course, your vape and it's always personal.
For me, I use SS 430, no taste as far as I can tell.
Available in many gauges, the wire I get from Germany is not springy.
I've heard that for some people SS 316 and 304 have a taste. I have never vaped those wires, so couldn't comment past saying that all vendors of any type wire have different sources. At least with Ti and Ni it better be exactly that if it is Gr 1. With SS, the alloy may noy be the same from place to place and the cleanliness is an issue with a couple of vendors.

Here is where I get all my wire. Normally arrives in 7-9 days. Always clean, no kinks or cross wraps on the spool, always been exactly as ordered.

Ok guys, instead of quoting and writing each of y'all back in just going to comment on all talks comments at once on you response so it's a bit long so here we go!

@sucram, I usually run alien coils and build with SS. In the RDA that is my go to (Mason 27mm) I keep my SS aliens and just dry burn and quench with purified water out of a unicorn bottle. I have had the coils that are in that for a month or more. I like to build different coils and learn new coil builds. I have a friend that wants to try titanium coils and I have been wanting to try them too so why not broaden my horizons and try new things ya know?

@Anthony_Vapes, there is a slight taste that I can taste and I have tried a couple different suppliers. Just like @ShowerHead mentioned that he has heard of some people saying that it has a taste. Also what I have heard is that you get a cleaner more flavorful vape from Ti.

@Steamer861, I have watched videos and heard of people just running a torch flame over the wire real quick to take the tension out of it then it wraps like other wire. I'll take a look at the supplier you mentioned. Thanks BTW. I don't do regular claptons, just never cared for them. The claptons that I use and build for friends are the staggered fused claptons. I seem to get more flavor out of them than regular claptons. With the wire breaking as you mentioned, I wonder if that would be where having a "not so soft" Ti wire then running a torch over it would come in handy in the 32 gauge. I have researched it and understand completely about the Ti oxide that happens when dry firing it. From what I understand is you can put put it in VW and turn the watts down LOW and turn the light off then pulse it just enough to see if they r glowing from the center. Also heard that if it does oxidize you can tap on it with a screwdriver (if your running single spaced wire) and it knocks the oxidation off of the wire (don't think I'm gonna take the word in the one person I either read or heard that from in a YouTube video). Better to be safe than sorry. I would do it so I know what it looks like and what people are talking about then throw that single wire coil away.

They are NOT the low cost leader. But, they won't charge you the VAT that EU folks pay. so prices are pretty good for the wire you get. Like I said, I've had all sorts of crap from other 'reputable' vendors. I've never had a complaint on their wire.

The soft wire is very strong, the malleability don't affect the integrity
The Ti I tried(32 G) wasn't soft it was just plain Ti wire. I bought a 24 & 32 Gauge from FT specifically for the clapton wire build. It didn't go that good.

RG only sells Ti down to 30 gauge in soft wire.

I have seen people use the torch to lightly fire Ti to get out the spring. I would rather error on the side of caution & not heat it at all.

@ShowerHead, I ended up ordering from that site you posted here. I didn't know they were in Germany. Ended up paying for it today. How long did the shipping take before you got your shipment? Just wanting to have a rough estimation on when it will be here.
