Look at my posts on here and other forums if you like, i help out plenty.

So you've earned the right to be a jerk in this thread, because you help so much in other threads. Got it.

Im (actually) fighting for the cause and you wanna argue in my comment section.[...]

To be clear this is directed to cavtruper, but FTR you aren't fighting for the cause here... you're just fighting. First with me, now with someone else. Why not participate in the subject of this thread, or skip it? I have seen a few of your other posts and one of your vids... in that vid you claimed Spider Silk is all you ever use. So +1 for Spider Silk from KWT.

Was that so hard?

I got some from unkaman and its pretty dirty. Took a lot of cleaning before the tissue stopped getting black crap on it. I ordered some from fasttech that said its grade 1 so now I'm waiting for that to come in to see if its any cleaner.

Posts in this thread referred to having to clean the Unkamen wire. I don't think anyone said it was clean, just that it was popular. Most wire needs to be wiped down, even some made for vaping. For example ppl have posted in reddit that Spider Silk needs wiping down. (Maybe KWT would like to chime in as to whether this is his experience or not.)

Wires reported in this thread as arriving clean include the Rio Grande Ti 24g (they don't sell thinner Ti than that, and this wire is not stated as being cleaned since it's for jewelry making, but has little to no residue); the UK Stealth Vapes wire (specifically states it is cleaned); and now the Sweet Spots wire according to Tomr... which he reports as ultrasonic cleaned and sounds a lot like the Stealth Vapes wire or at least sounds like it goes through the same kind of processes.

And it wasn't real clear if the Fast Tech wire came clean or not. If someone who has some wouldn't mind getting a tissue and splashing it with rubbing alcohol, then wiping the wire down, it will be easy to see if anything comes off or not.

I never said this thread. I said I had read it came clean I never said I read it in this thread. With that said I have seen it said on this site that it comes clean. as for the fasttech wire from what i have read it is hit or miss if its clean or not

My mistake for assuming. Funny some people (elsewhere) said the Unkamen comes clean... wonder if it has to do with which gauge is ordered. I remember reading on the site about how the wires are processed (acid baths etc) and noticed wire of a certain gauge had a different process.

Makes sense some Fast Tech wire would be clean, and others not, since they likely source it from multiple places.

it was in the "Titanium wire, vaping and safety" thread and they said the 26g was clean and thats what i got so who knows lol. im hoping the fasttech wire i got is at least a bit cleaner than the unkamen wire as that took a min or two of cleaning to get it to stop giving off black crap.

That's a bummer. I got 26g from Unkamen as well, but went into it knowing it would need wiping. Ralph at Unkamen is very good about answering email. He would probably be able to say if any of his wire is clean. Good luck with the Fast tech buy!

Just an update. I recently got some of the .5mm (24g) wire from sweet spot and I gotta say I'm impressed. It was pricey at 30 bucks per 50 feet but cheaper than buying ten feet at a dollar per foot. It last me longer than a nickel build and seems to gunk up less. I have the sweet spot dna200 profile on my mod and I gotta say the temp control vape is astounding. I get such awesome vapor and it's super consistent. I am in love and I notice I get a clean flavor too. Easy to build with and doesn't snap. Get to do crazier builds and the wattage outputs without throttling down so quick with ni200. I notice it will hold its set wattage even 80 watts on a 10 wrap dual and then when temp limit it reached it will protect super quick. So instead of powering lower and lower as it comes to temp it actually holds the power and ramps down really quick only when the temp is reached. Hard to explain but I've never had this good of a temp experience. Loving it. Figured people would wanna know. Worth the money spent considering I can clean and re wick a few times. I clean by using a clean small wire brush while heating the wire to a temp of 450 degrees F.

Also, it doesn't specify that it is 99.5% pure. Does anyone know if Grade 1 automatically means 99.5% pure?

As it was already noted, it means that Ti has to be, at least, 99.45% pure to be grade 1. If I remember correctly, stealthvape's Ti is 99.89% pure.

The sweet spot vapors ti wire is the best out there. It's made specifically by them for vaping and can't be had anywhere else. It's medical grade titanium and also ultrasonic cleaned before packaging. It seems to be pretty great and if someone had a dna200 they have spent over a year developing the wire and have temp control tcr values for their wires in every size and gauge. Making it probably the most consistent wire possible. They really have gone above and beyond creating it.
Unfortunately that's all marketing BS and has been debunked by people actually working in the Ti field.

Grade 5 is also medical grade. It's used to hold bones together. Doesn't make it suitable for vaping though.
Titanium is actually used in vacuum annealing furnaces because it has a really high affinity for oxygen and the remaining oxygen molecules will happily bind to the titanium thus it's scientifically impossible to remove o2 from titanium through any "proprietary" vacuum annealing process. It's grade 2 titanium, period.

This is the titanium I got from fasttech $5.20 Ti Grade 1 Titanium Heating Wire for Rebuildable Atomizers (26AWG, 0.4mm*10m) at m.FastTech.com - FastTech Mobile

It is clean I pressed pretty hard while wiping and got nothing but it has a matte finish and seems to be really soft

The wire I got from unkamen is not as soft, like you would think titanium would be. It is dirty and needs to be cleaned well. It has a shiny finish

I'll make a coil with the fasttech later and let you know if the resistance is the same or close as the fasttech almost feels as if it's thinner than the unkamen

This is jewellery wire probably. I have some, it is fully annealed and quite bendy like yours, not springy like the part annealed stuff. It is probably fine but worth checking that the resistivity is close to whet you expect (although that will rely on the guage/diameter being what they say unless you have a micrometer). The matte finish derives from acid pickling and is quite harmless! I just ordered some as I havent been able to get 26g in this form in UK, only 24! I hope it is the real thing as 26 is so much more useful than 24, at least for me! Great heads up!

I received some 22 and 24 gauge Ti from Unkamen about a week ago. Been vaping it on my IPV D2 ever since. It is the only Ti I have used thus far, but I do have a few observations to share.

First, the wire I received from Unkamen was very clean. I use isopropyl medical wipes to clean the wire and there was VERY little smudging, hardly enough to notice. Perhaps this varies by the grade, since others have reported dirty wire.

Second, while you have to be extremely careful, you do need to lightly pulse the Ti in power mode at 10-13 watts in 1-2 second bursts to work out hot spots. They are there and they are not as easy to work out as with kanthal due to the rigidity of the wire. If you get the wire blue you are doing it right. If it turns white it has become too hot and produced Ti dioxide.

Finally, any time you are working with temp control, you need to be working in low resistance ranges. There have been some mentions here of coils in the 0.3 to 0.5 range, which is way too high for temp control. As the wire heats, the resistance increases and there is no headroom. Personally, I wouldn't go above 0.15. I speak from personal experience. My first build came out way to high (0.23) and there were dry hits and erratic heating/cooling. Stay low and you are good. If you are having to run in Ni200 mode to compensate, your Ti build is too high.

All that to say, I love Ti, it builds amazing and the vape is stellar. Such a better medium than Ni200 and, despite what people say, safer as well. I want to try the Rio Grande and Stealth Vape wire next. I will also be ordering some stainless 316L wire from Unkamen shortly to use in temp control when my DNA200 arrives. All said and done, I'm a very happy vaper.

I have found .3 range works the best at least on my evic

I figured the matte is fine I just know some people care about it so that's why I mentioned it

What do you mean there is no "headroom." I am using a ~.3Ω coil and it is vaping right along just fine on my IPV D2.
